Taxonomy: Smallpox

An acute, contagious, viral disease that is characterized by a rash, high fever, headache, nausea and prostration together with skin eruptions which eventually crust and fall off leaving scars on people who survive. Complications include abscesses, iritis, conjunctivitis, nephritis, inflammation of the cervical lymph nodes and pneumonia. This disease is considered to be completely eradicated.
