A rare, chronic, congenital disorder of lipid metabolism in which fatty substances called glycosphingolipids accumulate in cells scattered throughout the body which have the power to ingest bacteria and colloidal particles. The condition is associated with enlarged spleen, increased pigmentation and bone lesions.
