A rare disease of the arteries and veins in the arms and legs that is characterized by swelling and blockages in the blood vessels that can eventually destroy tissue and lead to infection and gangrene. Symptoms include pain and weakness in the legs and feet or arms and hands; swelling in the feet and hands; fingers and toes that turn pale when exposed to cold (Raynaud's disease); and open sores on the fingers and toes.
