Programs that conduct research which focuses on the artistic disciplines including creative writing, visual arts (e.g., painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, textiles), performing arts (dance, music, theater), film, video, performance art, interdisciplinary arts, media and electronic arts, and new artistic practices. Objectives of research in this area are to foster creation of literary/artistic works that are suitable for publication, public performance or viewing; facilitate dissemination and presentation of high quality works to a broad public; and advancement of knowledge in the fine arts within the field of artistic endeavor concerned.
