Taxonomy: Supervision Skills Development

Programs that offer general workshops or other forms of training or support which teach people the array of skills they need to become effective supervisors. Topics may include basic management skills (e.g., decision making, problem solving, planning, delegation and meeting management), organizing teams, hiring and training new employees, coaching and mentoring skills, motivation techniques, time and stress management, conflict resolution, employee performance management (e.g., setting goals, observing and giving feedback, addressing performance issues, writing performance appraisals, disciplinary procedures and firing employees), and ensuring conformance to personnel policies and other internal regulations.
