Taxonomy: Brazilian Restaurants

Eating establishments that offer the cuisine of Brazil which blends the flavors of Europe, especially Portugal, and West Africa with native Indian tastes. Specialties include risoli (pan-fried dough stuffed with chicken or hearts of palm), coxinha (potato dough filled with shredded chicken), vatapa (fish and shrimp stew), feijoada (dried beef, smoked tongue and other meats simmered with black beans and served with rice, manioc meal made from cassava root, greens and condiments), churrasco (barbecued meats), cuscuz (molded steamed chicken, fish or meat with cornmeal, olives, peas and other vegetables) and bacalhoada (dried, salted codfish stew). Beverages may include Brazilian coffee, herbed tea, Brazilian beer and Cachaca (a liquor distilled from sugarcane).
