Taxonomy: Armenian Restaurants

Eating establishments that offer the cuisine of the Armenian region which is similar to Middle Eastern food but has fewer sauces and utilizes sweet rather than hot spices. Specialties may include tursi (pickled vegetables), tamara (a caviar-like spread), bastourma and sourjouk (sliced sausages and cured meats), lahma bi ajeen (an Armenian pizza), yogurt and lentil soups, stuffed grape leaves, salads and main dishes made with eggplant and zucchini, lamb dishes including kebabs and stews, kufta (stuffed meatballs), meat and poultry cooked with fruit, lavash (a very thin, crisp dark bread) and a variety of desserts served with Armenian coffee.
