Programs that provide training that helps people improve their ability to adapt well and recover quickly after experiencing stress, adversity, trauma or tragedy. People who have developed a resilient disposition are better able to maintain poise and a healthy level of physical and psychological wellness in the face of life's challenges. Those who are less resilient are more likely to dwell on problems, feel overwhelmed, use unhealthy coping tactics to handle stress, and develop anxiety and depression. Resilience training helps people focus on the meaningful aspects of an experience while intentionally decreasing negative thoughts that come to mind. Training is routinely available to military service members to help them achieve and sustain personal readiness, foster an environment of trust, and optimize human performance in environments of uncertainty and persistent danger and to military spouses to address the unique challenges they may face during pre- and post-deployment, but also to individuals in the civilian sector.
