Programs that provide comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services for people who have Parkinson's disease, ataxia, dystonia, tremor disorders, tic disorders, drug-induced movement disorders and other progressive conditions that affect an individual's motor skills. Treatment options may include oral medication to help control the symptoms; botulinum toxin injections directly into the muscles to reduce tremors and spasms when oral drug therapy is not effective; and surgical treatment in the form of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for patients whose movement symptoms have caused a decline in their quality of life and who have not responded favorably to medication therapies. Parkinson's/movement disorders patients may also have access to clinical trials of experimental therapies.
