Taxonomy: Federal Court of Claims

A federal court which has nationwide, original jurisdiction over claims against the United States founded upon the Constitution, acts of Congress, regulations of the executive department or claims arising from disputes regarding expressed or implied contracts with the United States. Included are claims by civilians or military personnel for back pay, claims of just compensation for the taking of property, claims arising from construction and supply contracts and similar causes of action. The court also has appellate jurisdiction over decisions rendered by the Indian Claims Commission on claims by various Indian Tribes. Judgments of the court are final and conclusive on both private parties and the U.S. unless reviewed by the Supreme Court.
