The Domestic Abuse Shelters help families and children escape from domestic violence and establish independent lives. The Shelter offers up to 120 days of a safe haven, basic needs (food, clothing etc.), counseling and services for children. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plans, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. The National Safe Haven Alliance (NSHA) is a national non-profit organization that promotes safe alternatives for parents in crisis pregnancy situations in every state.
