The Medical Reserve Corps in Hawaii is an all volunteer group with many different skill sets. The Hawaii MRC needs volunteers who have medical and non-medical backgrounds who want to serve their local communities during public health emergencies or large scale emergency response events.

Produces plays and drama education programs which help youth gain an understanding of the arts through theatrical and drama experience. Provides teacher study guides for all plays. 6-8 plays produced yearly; 2-4 tour to the neighbor islands. (Hawaii VA Foundation) Community volunteers shops for and deliver groceries, medication and necessary supplies to the kupuna's home every 2 weeks. The kupuna pays for the groceries that the volunteer delivers. The volunteer does not enter the kupuna's home. Inquire about other islands in the service area.

(National Alliance on Mental Illness - Hawaii) NAMI Hawaii provides free mental health support groups and classes for people in recovery and the families that support them. Enhances the lives of homeless children on the islands of Hawai'i and Oahu. We are a non-profit organization run 100% by volunteers. (The Boo Boo Zoo) Provides treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured, sick, and orphaned animals. Rescues and cares for animals in distress. Average on site numbers 400 animals including dogs, cats, goats, sheep, cow, horses, deer, fowl, birds. Even if we aren't facilitated to intake an animal still call. We can help, advise or direct you to a source. Staff are all volunteers, donations are sole support.

(MDA Summer Camp) Each summer, kids and young adults with neuromuscular disease attend overnight camps around the United States at no cost to their families. Note: Currently there are no in-person camps in Hawaii. Please see the web site for virtual camp options. Campers may also apply to attend a camp in another location of the nation.

Preserves the environment of Mauna Loa and Kilauea volcanoes. Provides a refuge for native plants and animals. Facilitates scientific study of volcanism at volcano observatory. Camp grounds include: Namakanipaio and Kulanaokuaiki. Offers lava viewing, trails and environmental education programs. Operates an adult day health program which provides therapeutic services and treatments including nursing care, recreational therapy and social services. Designed for persons at risk for long term care placement. Accepts volunteers 16 years old or older, to assist in transporting residents, general office duties, music leaders, craft assistants, active games, religious services, pet therapy, ethnic groups, sewing craft projects, etc.

The Manoa Heritage Center is committed to preserving and interpreting the heiau, the Native Hawaiian garden, the historic home and the natural and cultural history of Manoa Valley for future generations. Volunteer opportunities to lead tours through botanical gardens that surround the historic home and ancient heiau. (HVO, Kilauea June 2023) Hawaiian Volcano Observatory's (HVO) daily eruption updates include the latest information on the currently active lava flow, as well as maps and photos/videos of the flow. Recruits volunteers for researching Hawaii volcanoes, call for information.

(December 2021 Flood) Offers immediate emergency care services to victims of disaster. Emergency care services include emergency food and clothing. Provides mental health and stress management assistance to victims of disaster. Salvation Army is NOT taking donated items for the floods at this time. The Armed Services YMCA of Honolulu provides innovative and quality social, educational, and recreational programs to meet the needs of military service members and their families in the state of Hawaii. The ASYMCA is committed to promoting its goals of strengthening military families, supporting healthy lifestyles, reducing isolation and assisting service members and their families in connecting to their community. Provides a variety of programs for military families including family outreach services, food pantry and craft classes. Accepts volunteers to assist with answering the telephone, customer service, cleaning, decorating for special events and assisting with children 5 years old and below. Provides drop-in child care for military families when they have medical/doctor appointments, services are offered at Tripler and Schofield facilities.

Become a foster family and offer a loving home to an abandoned or houseless dog. Fur-Angel Foundation provides basic supplies and medical care. You transport your foster to appointments and love him/her as your own! Fostering timeframe can vary from a minimum of 30 days to potentially a few months, depending on each individual circumstance.
