The mission of the YWCA of O'ahu aquatics department is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where learning to swim and recreation through aquatics is the focus. One of the main tenets of the program is to encourage participants to do their best with their abilities. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement, the program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem in each person. We have pools at both Laniakea and Kokokahi, and offer a comprehensive swim program at each location. All aquatic staff members are certified Water Safety Instructors (Wintertree Software Inc.). Swim classes are offered on various days and times for your convenience. All swim classes have a low student-to-teacher ratio.

Provides a variety of ocean activity programs for all ages including ocean awareness, learn to swim (in the ocean), volleyball and water sports. Teaches ocean safety. Maintains a list of surf meets.

(American Red Cross of Hawaii) Provides immediate emergency assistance to victims of disasters, including food, shelter, clothing, crisis counseling and other services. Offers classes in CPR, first-aid, aquatics training. For military personnel, provides emergency communication services, counseling and referral services. Provides international tracing service. Offers three "Learn to Swim" programs a year (Red Cross approved). Registration before program begins. Summer program starts around June, Fall program starts around September, Spring program starts around January. Also open to public for free swimming.

Provides after school A+ programs at several elementary schools. Has summer fun and intersession programs. Has fitness equipment and classes, swimming lessons.

Provides child care and extended child care for preschool - teen (3-18 years old). Provides before and after school care for children. Offers land and aquatic exercise programs for adults, including Arthritis Aqua Exercise. Offers afterschool, summer and holiday child care programs for school aged children. Offers learn-to-swim programs for children through adults. Youth leadership program for teenagers.

Provides a comprehensive aquatics recreational program in the community. Facilities include a swimming pool. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring, and summer. Activities are for all ages. Registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Maintains a multi-purpose exercise room, weight room, cardiovascular room, racquetball/handball courts, locker rooms, showers and 25-yard heated pool. Offers child care to members while using facilities. Organizes free family fun night. Operates after school programs at the following schools: Haiku, Kalihi Kai, Kihei, Pomaikai, and Puu Kukui. Offers summer day camp at Maui Family YMCA and Kihei school; kindergarten through 5th graders. Conducts classes in aerobics, cardiac therapy, gym, karate, personal fitness, swimming, water aerobics, weight training, yoga etc. Offers American Red Cross Community Water Safety (CWS) course (not for the public). Provides various classes at various locations on the island. Operates Camp Keanae. Provides child care (3mo-12yrs old) for members while they workout, maximum two hours, parents/guardian must be on same premises as child.

Operates and maintains county parks and facilities. Coordinates and sponsors recreational, leisure and athletic programs. Issues permits for use of facilities. Provides and maintains various community centers, stadiums, tennis courts, swimming pool and certain beaches. Mitchell Pauole Center, Kaunakakai: County services such as police, fire, water, public works, parks and recreation, community hall, conference room, kitchen; baseball fields, gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis courts. Kilohana Community Center, Halapue: Community meetings and events, bazaars, dances, luaus; outdoor baseball and basketball, picnics. Kakahia Park, Kawela: A beach park with picnic facilities. Kualapuu Park: softball field, restroom facilities. Maunaloa Community Center: Recreational programs, meetings. One Alii Park I and II: Baseball games, picnics, permit camping, jogging. Papohaku Beach Park, Kaluakoi: Picnic areas, restrooms, showers, permit camping.
