Kula Botanical Garden

Exhibits an 8 acre garden in a local setting through a self-guided tour. Offers picnic area for visitors, an aviary, a carp pond, a stream, a bird sanctuary (including Nene Geese), Hawaiian Statues, a covered bridge, and a souvenir and light snack shop. Stroller friendly garden. It takes about 1 hour to go through so be here by 3pm to enjoy the garden.

Amy B H Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden

Interprets Hawaiian ethnobotany and conserves Hawaiian traditions relating to horticultural practices and land use. Covers twelve acres and includes a five acre archaeological remnant of the prehistoric agricultural zone that once dominated the Kona district. Collection includes agricultural cultivars and plants introduced by the Polynesians, as well as a collection of nearly one hundred native Hawaiian plants. Located just south of mile marker 110 on Hwy 11 in South Kona.

Halawa Xeriscape Garden

Maintains a botanical garden with varieties of plants that conserve water. Tour also includes information on water-saving irrigation systems, mulches, and other xeriscape ideas. Group tours are available by appointment only. Honolulu Board of Water Supply and Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden offer educational workshops that feature xeriscape plants and gardening techniques that will help to conserve water outdoors. Photographic Society - Hawaii

Operates photographic camera club with access to a black and white darkroom. Educates members in the various processes and complexities of photography. Schedules an annual members' exhibition, an annual members contest and periodic shooting opportunities. Lyon Arboretum

The Lyon Arboretum is a 193.5 acre botanical garden operated by the University of Hawaii. Offers tours, classes and workshops. The Arboretum's Micropropagation Lab and Seed Storage Lab both work to save Hawaii's rare and endangered plants. The Arboretum's Ethnobotanical and Hawaiian gardens are amongst the state's largest collection of cultural and native plants and help to maintain the cultural and natural heritage of Hawaii. Volunteers are needed for public tours, school tours, garden maintenance, trail maintenance, in the labs and visitor's center.

Harbors Division - Oahu

Administers statewide system of commercial harbors consisting of seven deep draft and two medium draft harbors. The seven deep draft ports serving the State are Honolulu and Barbers Point on the island of Oahu, Port Allen and Nawiliwili on the island of Kauai, Kahului on the island of Maui, and Hilo and Kawaihae on the island of Hawaii. The medium draft facilities are Kewalo Basin on Oahu and Kaunakakai on Molokai. Also responds to harbor complaints.
