Branch regulates public water systems, underground injection wells and performs groundwater monitoring. Water quality complaints and inquiries are generally referred to the water system owner or the building owner. Testing services are not a function of the Department of Health.

Administers federal/state program which assists counties in constructing public wastewater treatment facilities. Regulates all public and private wastewater systems. Determines project priorities. Approves facility plans and engineering reports. Approves construction plans, operation and maintenance. Approves all new wastewater systems and inspects all existing wastewater systems to assure that such systems do not create any public health hazard or nuisance or contaminate coastal waters, streams, or groundwaters. Administers the Statewide Wastewater Operator Training Center and Operator Certification Program.
