The Hawaii State Food and Drug Branch conducts investigations and inspections wherever foods, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices and related products are manufactured, packed, stored, distributed or sold. Prevents public exposure to adulterated and misbranded food by identifying and correcting food safety problems before consumers are placed at risk. Ensure the removal from the sale products (food, drugs, cosmetics and medical devices) recalled by FDA or the manufacturer by contacting and inspecting wholesalers, distributors and retail stores.

Audits, inspects and investigates production, distribution and adjustments related to milk quotas and licenses. Reviews and recommends adjustments of minimum prices paid to producers and production quota to assure a fair return on investment.

Directed to protect the public against unreasonable risks of injuries and deaths associated with consumer products. Accomplished by developing voluntary standards with industry; enforcing mandatory standards; recalling hazardous products; and educating consumers through media, state and local governments, and private organizations.
