(Hawaii County Third Circuit Hale Kaulike Self Help Center) The Hilo Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the East Hawaii community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Hawaii County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

Shelter of Wisdom rents homes which are shared by our men. Men live in double rooms with shared living areas and house chores. We provide intensive case management until our men are accepted into permanent housing. We provide household furnishings for their new homes, which are donated to us by the community. Men must maintain their sobriety, hygiene, medications, meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping and behavior.

(SSO) Department of Education Seamless Summer Option (SSO) Program provides meals free of charge at participating public schools for children 1 year old - 18 years old June 9, 2026 - July 17, 2026. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate. Schools will serve breakfast 7:15 am - 8:45 am and lunches from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. There will be no meal service on the June 11, 2026 (Kamehameha Day) and July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed) state holidays. All meals must be eaten on campus; no grab-and-go options are available. Children do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served, and meals will consist of solid foods. The People's Open Market is a low cost market where farmers sell fresh produce, baked goods, and fish directly to the public. Wilson Homecare is a state-licensed home health agency providing personal care to skilled nursing from 3 hours per shift, once a week, to daily 24 hours care at the clients home. Care assessment will be made by Nurse Care Coordinator to build the appropriate care plans which can be assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs - bathing, dressing, toileting), running errands, visits to the doctor, medication management, meal prep, or light housekeeping. We also offer skilled nursing in home which can included medication management, wound care, vent care, up to life support.

State of Hawaii Department of Education provides free or reduced prices for meals to school children unable to pay because of financial need. Others pay for daily lunches. Effective for the school year 2025-2026, students who qualify for reduced-price meals will receive one breakfast and one lunch daily at no charge, in accordance with Act 139, Session Laws of Hawaii 2025. While these students will still be categorized as reduced-price eligible under federal guidelines, their meals will be scanned as “Reduced – No Charge.” If a student would like to purchase a second meal or a la carte items such as milk, funds will need to be deposited into their account. Malu Aina is a spiritual community based on peace, justice and sustainable organic farming. Volunteers receive a valuable experience in organic farming, aquaculture, and peace and justice advocacy. Life on the farm involves physical labor, simple living, and community engagement on issues of justice and peace. A wide variety of fruits and vegetables are grown to share freely with people in need, and we are also a regional food bank emergency pantry.
