Infant and Early Childhood Services

These children typically fall outside the scope of the Department of Education & Special Education Services. The needs of each child are met through professional therapeutic services designed for the child to help them thrive in their home, preschool and community. Our goal is to better prepare the child for kindergarten and beyond by using family engagement techniques and strategies.

Intensive In-Home Therapy - East Hawaii Island

(IIH, Intensive in Home) This program provides mental health services for children/adolescents who have serious emotional and behavioral disorders. Program staff work with the family to stabilize and preserve their capacity to improve the youth’s functioning in the current living environment and to prevent the need for placement outside the home. Intensive In-Home Mental Health Treatment Services for children, youth, and families who require a higher level of care than office-based services, but who do not require residential or hospital level care.

(ORL Processing Center) The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. For a PDF of the paper application, visit the website and click on "SNAP (formerly Food Stamps)" from the menu "Benefit, Employment & Support Services (BESSD) SNAP, Financial, Child Care, General Assistance and more". SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program

(SSG Fox SPGP) SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) is designed to assist service members, veterans and service-connected family members with resources through outreach, suicide prevention services, and connection to VA and community resources. A comprehensive range of services includes individualized, compassionate case management; assistance with transportation, shelter, and childcare; access to mental health and substance abuse treatment options; help with navigating healthcare choices; and housing placements services. Additionally, the SPGP offers financial literacy education, referrals for legal assistance, peer specialist support, and resource navigation.
