(Wendys Wonderful Kids - Adoption Services) Wendy’s Wonderful Kids offers proactive, child-focused recruitment of adoptive families for children who have been placed in long-term foster care. Sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation, this unique program provides intensive social work services to find the best adoptive home for a child by exploring all facets of the child’s family, school, and friendship circles, as well as recruiting families from the broader community. Goals: • Increase the number of foster children placed with loving, adoptive or guardianship families in Hawaii • Develop supportive and warm relationships with children waiting to be adopted/legal guardianship • Provide information and resources to prospective and adoptive/guardianship parents • Increase community awareness of foster care adoption • Streamline the adoption process • Improve the quality of life for children in the permanent care of the Hawaii • State Department of Human Services by providing a “forever” family in Hawaii

McKinley Community School for Adults (MCSA) - Maui Campus provides adults with basic, remedial, and continuing education opportunities. Our programs include English Language Acquisition (ELA), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), Workforce Development Diploma (WDD), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, and DOE Support classes. (E-Kokua Club) The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii (EFH) offers a free membership to the E-Kokua Club to children, teens, adults, and caregivers. Through monthly cultural healing activities (hula, lei-making, ukulele, art therapy), peer support groups, and seizure first aid education, the E-Kokua Club provides a welcoming, stigma-free community where families can learn, connect, and thrive. In addition, EFH is the local manager of the National Epilepsy Helpline for Hawaii. (Specialized Mediation) Mediation services involving divorce, post-divorce and custody issues.

Offers complete family dentistry including exams, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatment, fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, etc. Dental emergency treatments include dental pain and facial swelling relief and extraction.

(EFNEP) Assists families with limited income to plan low-cost, simple, healthy meals. Families learn to shop wisely, stretch their food dollars and resources, and keep foods safe. Homemakers meet in groups with the Nutrition Program Assistant community sites. Meets weekly or bi-weekly (twice a month). Groups arranged by collaborating agencies.

Links individuals with technology so all people can participate in every aspect of community life by promoting technology through advocacy, training, information, and education. Provides information and referral to anyone interested in assistive technology (AT) devices and services for people with disabilities. Operates equipment loan banks statewide. Provides training to consumer and professional groups. Works to ensure that schools, vocational rehabilitation agencies, and health insurers provide assessments, funding and training in the use of AT devices and services for their clients. Administers a low-interest financial loan program to assist individuals in purchasing assistive technology when no other sources of funding are available. Assistive technology is any item or equipment that has been specifically designed or modified to enable people to maintain or improve their functioning while ensuring their quality of life. Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include gym with weight room and gymnastics room, meeting room building, arts and crafts building, six tennis courts, play apparatus, three softball fields, a baseball field, two outdoor basketball courts and an outdoor volleyball court. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. (Ohana Finding) Family Finding is a process designed to identify, locate and engage family members of children and youth who are in foster care. Family Finding utilizes database case mining and internet searches to identify and locate family and other possible relatives. Individuals who are identified as possible relatives are verified via phone contact and/or letters, and names of confirmed family members are compiled onto maternal and paternal family lists. These lists are then submitted to Child Welfare Services (CWS), the GAL, and the EPIC Ohana Conference coordinator or the Ohana Connections specialist to assist them in engaging relatives to help care for, provide support for, or reconnect to the child in care.
