(H-HEAP, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Energy Crisis Intervention - Central, LIHEAP ECI, ECI) Hawaii Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) Energy Crisis Intervention (ECI) is designed to help families keep their utilities (gas or electric) on, especially those households that are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, the disabled, and households with young children. H-HEAP primarily assists households by applying an energy assistance grant directly to the energy provider on behalf of the eligible household. Applications are accepted year-round. Our Honolulu site was opened in 1996 and is located on the 1st floor of the Prince Kuhio Federal Building. Rainbow School Honolulu has an Infant/Toddler program which is licensed for 15 infants and toddlers. Our Preschool program is licensed for 75 children ages 2-5 years old. Rainbow School, Inc. in Agreement with the US General Services Administration, provides childcare services to Federal employees who are given priority and the general public. We are licensed by the State of Hawaii and all staff meet State licensing requirements. We accept DHS – Child Care Connection, Open Door, First-to-Work, Kamehameha Schools’ Keiki Pauahi Scholars Program, and Federal subsidies. All tuition payments are done through the FACTS Tuition Management program. Your child’s Form 14, current TB clearance and DHS 908 Form are required upon acceptance into the school. Parents are also responsible for a non-refundable registration fee of $175 upon acceptance. If there are no availabilities, your child’s application will be placed on the center’s waitlist. Anti-Bullying Lunchtime Program provides schools with a positive activity for students to curb fighting and eliminate negative activities among students during lunch period. Low COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) course activities are utilized and students participate in sports theme activities. The low cope course activity is used for communication, cooperation, decision making, leadership and teamwork. This program is at the 4 elementary schools 3rd thru 5th grade level. The students participate 4 times a month for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

May access information at any library or through a personal microcomputer with communications software and a modem. Makes information for dial-in users available at all public libraries. Can also be accessed via Internet at library's web homepage. Hawaii residents can search and access full-text materials from thousands of magazines, journals, newspapers, reference books, biographies, encyclopedias, almanacs and other publications. Patrons with valid library cards can also access the databases from their home computers at the website listed above. The Lyon Arboretum is a 193.5 acre botanical garden operated by the University of Hawaii. Offers tours, classes and workshops. The Arboretum's Micropropagation Lab and Seed Storage Lab both work to save Hawaii's rare and endangered plants. The Arboretum's Ethnobotanical and Hawaiian gardens are amongst the state's largest collection of cultural and native plants and help to maintain the cultural and natural heritage of Hawaii. Volunteers are needed for public tours, school tours, garden maintenance, trail maintenance, in the labs and visitor's center.

Always Best Care provides seniors with assistance daily activities at home. We provide personal care, light housekeeping, skilled nursing and physical therapy.

(Hawaii Agricultural Statistics Branch) Conducts surveys and makes estimates of state agricultural production and value. Compiles data by county and state. Distributes statistics to farmers, farm organizations, government officials, related agencies and agri-businesses.

Produces plays and drama education programs which help youth gain an understanding of the arts through theatrical and drama experience. Provides teacher study guides for all plays. 6-8 plays produced yearly; 2-4 tour to the neighbor islands. Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

Three meals per day are prepared at our Sumner Men’s Shelter and served across our 10-shelter network. Help prepare and serve meals at the men’s shelter. This volunteer position is great for individuals or groups, as each shift accommodates up to 5 volunteers. Shifts are available 3 meals per day, 7 days per week.
