Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society

Organized in 1979, the Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society (HPGS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of Hawaii’s older adults. We promote the understanding of the aging process, supportive services, and legislation that help people age with dignity and grace. It is the largest voluntary, multidisciplinary group in the State committed to dialogue and discussion, networking and information sharing on issues and policies affecting older adults in this geographical area. Currently, more than 400 older adults, caregivers, gerontology educators, medical and social service practitioners, health care providers, agency personnel and organizations from all sectors of the community make up the membership. Members can attend the meetings held three times a year.

Become a foster family and offer a loving home to an abandoned or houseless dog. Fur-Angel Foundation provides basic supplies and medical care. You transport your foster to appointments and love him/her as your own! Fostering timeframe can vary from a minimum of 30 days to potentially a few months, depending on each individual circumstance.

We are currently accepting new/unopened donations of essential household and personal care items, including: -Hygiene items and feminine products -Diapers and pull-ups (all sizes) and wipes -Phone chargers and portable battery banks -Laundry detergent and dish soap -Shoes and boots -Towels and bedding (including blankets) -Cookware, dishware, and utensils -Gift cards for flexible support At this time, larger furniture items are not needed, as many affected areas are still in the cleanup phase following the storm. Partner With Us as a Collection Site Community businesses and organizations can play a direct role in Kona low recovery efforts by serving as a donation collection site. By hosting a drive, you can help gather essential items and make it easier for your employees, customers, or community members to contribute.
