(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. To create one, file a complaint with the FTC and print your Identity Theft Affidavit. Use that to file a police report and create your Identity Theft Report. An Identity Theft Report will help you deal with credit reporting companies, debt collectors, and businesses that gave the identity thief credit or opened new accounts in your name. You can use the Report to: -get fraudulent information removed from your credit report -stop a company from collecting debts that result from identity theft, or from selling the debt to another company for collection -place an extended fraud alert on your credit report -get information from companies about accounts the identity thief opened or misused

The Maui Strong program delivers bagged groceries and essential supplies to kupuna who were displaced or otherwise impacted by the Maui wildfires. Deliveries are made directly to their homes by volunteer drivers. For safety and privacy, drivers do not enter the kupuna’s homes. In addition to home deliveries, the program provides care navigation services to help connect kupuna with resources and support. We also offer transportation services for those who need transportation to medical appointments or essential errands.

(Ho'oulu 'Aina and Returning to our Roots) Hooulu Aina (the Kalihi Valley Nature Preserve) strives to be a "welcoming place of refuge for people of all cultures." Kokua Kalihi Valley (KKV) sees the aina (land) as a vital member of the community, and so we are pleased to offer opportunities for community gardening, reforestation, environmental education and the preservation of land-based cultural knowledge. The ROOTS program works to reconnect community members to one another, to their cultures, and to their shared land through the growing, preparing and sharing of food. (Domestic Violence Services for Families) When child abuse occurs in the home, violent behavior towards spouses and others is also often present. After a family is required to enter the child welfare system and is discovered to be experiencing other forms of domestic violence a care plan is developed for each family member. Services are then provided for both survivors (victims) and batterers (perpetrators) of violent behavior. Survivors create a safety plan and are offered various supportive services. Batterers are assessed and provided opportunities to learn alternative attitudes and behaviors. This program works with families involved in the child welfare system who are also experiencing domestic violence. Staff work with each family to assess for domestic violence and/or risk factors related to domestic violence. A care plan is developed for each family member. The services that are available for each family include: Domestic Violence Survivor Support and Pattern Changing Groups for Victims, Individual Counseling and Support for each family member, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focusing on children, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Children’s Support Groups, and/or Adolescent Support Groups.

The Home Maintenance Program does home improvements in partnership with family and community volunteers. When the project is completed, there is a 1-7 year “0” interest loan. The loan payments collected go into a revolving fund used to fund future home maintenance projects. Projects include installation of ramps and rails, stair repair, fence repair, gutter replacement, solar water heaters, appliance replacement, minor electrical and plumbing, window replacement, and termite treatment.
