(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Money Fit by DRS - HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Services: Money Fit by DRS offers comprehensive HUD-approved housing counseling and education services to Hawaii residents, assisting with renter concerns, homelessness prevention, homeowner financial management, and fair housing education. Our services include guidance on lease agreements, tenant rights, budgeting, mortgage options, foreclosure prevention, and fair housing laws.

The Family Court hears legal matters involving children; domestic relations cases including divorce, child support, paternity, custody matters; domestic violence cases including civil restraining orders involving family members; civil commitment cases, guardianships of adults, and adult abuse cases.

Maintains a sanitary and healthful environment through prevention, inspection, education, and enforcement activities. Inspects food and food service establishments, milk plants, frozen dessert manufacturing plants, dairy farms, hotels and other multi-dwelling units, adult family care homes, intermediate care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, public swimming pools, barber and beauty shops, mortuaries, embalmers, tattoo parlors and artists, massage parlors and other general public health nuisances.

The purpose of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is to enable eligible families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Kauai County Housing Agency's (KCHA) FSS program is the conduit between the client and the appropriate supportive services necessary to achieve independence. FSS case managers are assigned to FSS participants to make a proper assessment of strengths, needs and aspirations. The case manger will guide each client through a service plan which outlines short and long-term goals. Some of the services provided to families include: child care, transportation necessary to receive services, remedial education, job training and preparation, substance abuse treatment and counseling, training in homemaking and parenting skills, training in money management, training in household management; and any other services and resources appropriate to assist eligible families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Defends and protects the constitutional freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights and the Hawaii State Constitution. Consists of 3 major program areas: Public Education: Coordinates volunteers. Provides speakers and materials to groups wanting to hear about civil liberties and handles special program events for the organization including forums, debates, speech tours, etc. Free publications of interest include the Police Contact Card, copies of the Bill of Rights, brochures about one's rights during a federal investigation and a right to protest. Legal Program: Responds to any request for help sent in writing to the office. Depending on resources available, may investigate resolve or litigate complaints concerning the infringement of civil rights by government agencies. We are a local nonprofit agency that is part of a national network of organizations and individuals committed to improving Hawaii's maternal, child and family health through collaborative efforts in public education, advocacy and partner development. (Mālama Honua Disaster Fund, MHDF) The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) provides a limited number of $10,000 grants to repair eligible Native Hawaiian homeowners' homes that sustained minor damage during the March 2026 Kona Low storm events. The program helps OHA beneficiary homeowners with minor disaster-related cleanup and home repair needs for their principal residences located in OHA-identified Kona Low storm highly impacted areas throughout Hawaii. The grants are intended for homes that remain safe to live in but require non-structural repairs or cleanup due to flooding, water damage, or other storm-related impacts. The Malama Honua Disaster Fund (MHDF) program is open to Native Hawaiian homeowners who are not otherwise eligible for OHA's March 2026 Kona Low General Disaster Assistance Program that the Hawaiian Council is contracted to administer. Applicants must provide verifiable quotes, invoices, or other acceptable cost documentation for repairs or cleanup due to the storms.
