The Office of Housing and Community Development is responsible for the planning, administration and operation of all of the County of Hawai‘i’s housing programs such as the Section 8 rental assistance for qualified families. (PGC Farms in Kunia, Pacific Gateway Center Farms in Kunia) Pacific Gateway Center provides 176 acres of farmland which are leased to farmers. The farmers work with the Social Enterprises Program to build their businesses selling produce such as cucumbers, varieties of tomatoes, squash, and beans, eggplant, okra, Thai chili peppers, avocado, and bananas.

Manages small boat harbors and launch ramps. Issues boat registrations and permits for ocean recreation events such as canoe regattas, surfing and board sailing contests, yacht races. Regulates commercial activities such as "thrillcraft" operations.

(Steadfast Pacific) Acquires, develops, owns, and manages permanent supported housing suitable for occupancy by persons in Hawaii with chronic mental illness, also known as SMI (Seriously Mentally Ill). Operates 29 group homes (including duplex units) and 6 condominium units. All clients are being provided with mental health supportive services at the Community Mental Health Centers.

(SSO) Department of Education Seamless Summer Option (SSO) Program provides meals free of charge at participating public schools for children 1 year old - 18 years old June 9, 2026 - July 17, 2026. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate. Schools will serve breakfast 7:15 am - 8:45 am and lunches from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. There will be no meal service on the June 11, 2026 (Kamehameha Day) and July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed) state holidays. All meals must be eaten on campus; no grab-and-go options are available. Children do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served, and meals will consist of solid foods. Family Hui Hawaii coordinates and provides peer-led parenting support groups for families with young children, age prenatal-5 years old. Families are matched with a group leader in their community based on their child's age and neighborhood. Once a group is formed, families take part in 12 weekly parenting and child development discussions. Group members are able to connect and share their experiences with other families and often develop life-long friendships. Each family receives our Embracing 'Ohana Notebook as a permanent resource. Family Hui offers child development screenings, provides referrals to other agencies, weekly parenting tips on Facebook and current community resources, and invites families to special events and workshops. You may leave a message anytime. Text or contact via Facebook as well - Family Hui Hawaii Families meet where it is convenient for everyone in the group. It may be a public park or a group member's home. Hui groups may meet virtually and/or physically.
