(Helping Hands Hawaii SNAP Outreach Program, HHH SNAP Outreach Program, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program Outreach, SNAP Outreach, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program Outreach, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach) The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. Helping Hands Hawaii’s SNAP outreach program provides help with: -filling out the SNAP application for the Department of Human Services (DHS) -providing interpretive assistance to Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals -facilitating submission of the application to the DHS offices -assisting with follow-up on application status as needed -helping SNAP benefit recipients to maintain those benefits -participating with DHS-contracted providers to conduct SNAP nutrition educational activities designed to ensure proper use of the SNAP benefit, including how to use the benefit and still be able to eat nutritious meals. Applicants may be eligible for SNAP if their household income meets Federal Income Guidelines. If the household appears to meet DHS eligibility requirements, they will be scheduled for an in-person interview with a SNAP outreach worker. Anyone who is interested in applying for SNAP benefits may call for more details. There will be a short pre-screening intake over the telephone (usually takes 10-15 minutes). Our staff will schedule an appointment with you and help you complete the form. Program is also offered in the community or at the applicant's home (by appointment) as needed. Contact the program to coordinate these off-site engagement. We can also submit your application to the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) if you are unable to go to a processing center.

Early Childhood Services are provided to children three to six years old with delays in which age appropriate milestones are not yet met. These children typically fall outside the scope of the Department of Education & Special Education Services. The needs of each child are met through professional therapeutic services designed for the child to help them thrive in their home, preschool and community. Our goal is to better prepare the child for kindergarten and beyond by using family engagement techniques and strategies.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation offers assistance to for individuals experiencing financial hardships to help them keep their pets. This helps reduce the number of animals surrendered to shelters due to lack of resources and ensures that pets can stay with their families. Services include help with pet food, temporary foster care, etc.

Food donations are accepted at Hale Kau Kau. Hale Kau Kau program serves dinner meals on-site to those who do not have the resources for basic food. Hale Kau Kau delivers dinner meals every day to homebound persons (seniors, people with disabilities, etc.)

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Waiau District Park Market is a low cost market where farmers sell fresh produce, baked goods, and fish directly to the public. Please select your permit type. Note: If the type of work you are performing would normally qualify for a Quick Permit, please select Building Permit Application instead. If this first permit you are applying for that is related to the Kona low, check the “New Project” box and enter “Kona Low Rebuild” as the project name. If you are applying for additional permits, continue to use the same “Kona Low Rebuild” project each time. Do not create a new project. Step 4. Submission Page. Proceed with your application until you reach the Submission Requests page. If your project does not require formal plans, please upload photos of the property damage instead. This fulfills the system’s upload requirement and allows you to complete your submission in HNL Build. If our staff believe your project does need plans, they will contact you. Step 5. Notify DPP. The Community Assistance Center helps families learn self-management skills enabling them to cope with difficult situations without violence. They provide an educational program; not a counseling or therapeutic service.

(Youth Build Honolulu) Provides an educational and job training program that prepares its participants for responsible citizenship. Participants are non-high school graduates, 16-24 years of age, with personal histories filled with alcohol and drug abuse, criminal activities, and limited financial resources. Is the last chance for individuals to earn a high school diploma and develop skills to prevent future incarceration, drug addiction, teen pregnancy, and long-term unemployment.

(North Shore Food Bank) North Shore Food Bank provides a walk up or drive through food distribution at Kaiaka Bay beach park. Additional community services include help with community health servies, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) application help, and other information for person who may be houseless.
