The Maui Dance Council (MDC) was founded in 1978 and holds the mission to: Enliven the community and the classroom by inspiring, cultivating and supporting the artist in everyone. MDC cultivates the performing and creative arts in Maui County through: the Chance To Dance public school movement arts education program, professional development training for classroom teachers, community classes and Master workshops, and by advocating for the arts locally and nationally. Chance To Dance is a Standards based arts education program designed to stimulate the students’ imagination and original thinking through dance and music. (Mālama Honua Disaster Fund, MHDF) The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) provides a limited number of $10,000 grants to repair eligible Native Hawaiian homeowners' homes that sustained minor damage during the March 2026 Kona Low storm events. The program helps OHA beneficiary homeowners with minor disaster-related cleanup and home repair needs for their principal residences located in OHA-identified Kona Low storm highly impacted areas throughout Hawaii. The grants are intended for homes that remain safe to live in but require non-structural repairs or cleanup due to flooding, water damage, or other storm-related impacts. The Malama Honua Disaster Fund (MHDF) program is open to Native Hawaiian homeowners who are not otherwise eligible for OHA's March 2026 Kona Low General Disaster Assistance Program that the Hawaiian Council is contracted to administer. Applicants must provide verifiable quotes, invoices, or other acceptable cost documentation for repairs or cleanup due to the storms. OHA will use available storm impact data and recovery indicators to ensure grant awards are distributed fairly and proportionately across impacted islands and communities. (TRY, TRY Center, Community Teen Program - KPT - Middle and High School) Parents And Children Together's Community Tenacious Rooted Youth (TRY) Centers in Kuhio Park Terrace and Puuwai Momi public housing provides comprehensive development programs for youth who live in and around the housing complexes. After school programs promote the development of youth, families, and communities by providing educational activities and experiences including STEM projects, sports and recreation, community service, skill building, and support services. Programs support the growth and development of our youth by teaching leadership and life skills and encouraging positive experiences as alternatives to drugs and gangs. TRY Center activities are free and open to family residents of public housing complexes in the respective areas. Opens at 1:30 pm on Wednesdays during the school year. Extended hours offered during summer and school intersessions. Intake form is good for 1 year.

This unique offering encourages campers to learn about the ocean and Maui’s natural environment while developing useful skills and making new friends.
