(Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters offers home based early childhood education for two, three, four and five year old children working with their parent(s) as their first teacher. The parent is provided with a set of carefully developed materials, curriculum and books designed to strengthen their child’s cognitive skills, early literacy skills, social/emotional and physical development. HIPPY is a parent involvement and school readiness program. HIPPY covers the following 5 domains: Literacy; Language; Science ; Motor (gross and fine) ; Math . The curriculum is scripted to help parents deliver the lessons to their children with confidence. If you are interested in becoming a resource family, contact Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) Hui Ho’omalu, they are contracted by DHS. PIDF has partnered with Family Programs Hawaii (FPH), and a consortium of other community providers to form Hui Ho'omalu (A Group to Protect and Shelter), all working together to advance Hawaii’s foster care system. Recruits and certifies adoptive parent(s) for children needing an adoptive family. Recruits adoptive families for children who are a ward of the state. Provides adoption services for foster children.

Welcomes and accepts volunteers (including high school students, college students, working adults and senior retirees). Volunteers assist Health System employees with acute care, long-term care and geriatric care. Duties range from clerical support to companionship activities within nursing home residents or patient assistance at the medical center. Volunteers also participate in hospital tours for visitors. Volunteers are accepted year round. Upon acceptance into the program, volunteers attend a general orientation given by the supervisor of their assigned department. Most volunteers work one to two times a week and a minimum of three hours a shift. Weekends are available.

An ongoing support group for family members who have experienced a loss in their lives. The group offers the public a chance to explore and exchange experiences in coping with loss, facilitate communications, methods of communicating the memories of loved ones, and more.

(SHEG) A one time, not ongoing financial assistance for households who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness. Single, couples and families. Provides assistance with rent deposit, first month rent, past due rent, utilities when included with rent or if utility assistance prevents homelessness. Utility assistance for renters only. Utilities assistance to prevent the household from losing their housing or prevent homelessness.

Conducts sports and recreational program for all age groups. Old airport facilities including: gym, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, baseball field, football field, soccer field, beach access, martial arts room, sports meeting room, arts and crafts room, and softball fields.

UCPA's Early Intervention Services is sponsored by the State of Hawaii's Department of Health - Early Intervention Section. The program provides services to children between the ages of birth to three years of age with developmental delays. Services are provided in each child's natural environment (e.g., home) with the goal of educating, enhancing and coaching parents and caregivers to support development within the context of the child's daily routines and activities.

The Great Aloha Run is an 8.12-mile foot race beginning at Aloha Tower and finishes in the Aloha Stadium. The race financially assists scholarship programs and special projects of selected charitable organizations which serve the community needs in the State of Hawaii.

Family conferencing is a traditional group resolution process focusing on repairing and strengthening relationships when youthful offenders admit wrong doing. All Kaiser plan members affected by the Kona Low on March 2026 can call or go in to a Kaiser pharmacy to get help with medication replacement. (Easter Seals Hawaii Home and Community-Based Services, Easter Seals Hawaii Honolulu Services Center Adult Day Health Program) Adult Day Health (ADH) focuses on providing a small group environment that fosters growth, and challenges the adult participant to increase independence in a variety of community settings. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities. ADH participants have a full-range of activities to choose from including: the option to go on daily excursions, enjoy art programs, volunteer in the community, attend computer classes with the aid of assistive technology, learn money skills, participate in weekly hula classes or give back to the community through recycling programs.
