(Hawaii Copd Coalition) Hawaii Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (HiCOPD) Coalition was formed in 2007 to provide services and improve treatment of Hawaii adults diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and its related disorders. Program serves patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and others offering free lung health information, free paper and pen screening tests, tobacco cessation information, monthly support group meetings, presentations on COPD, advocacy, training for volunteers/healthcare workers about COPD and Smoking Cessation counseling, information sharing of licensure for Hawaii’s respiratory therapists which has successfully led to licensing. (Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts) An inclusive and innovative community arts space in Honolulu that hosts community arts events, cultural workshops, gallery shows featuring local artists, creative classes, First Friday Honolulu, auditions and art submission contests. (Adult Program, Adult Group Homes - Hale Kukunaokala) Hale Naau Pono provides group homes for persons with serious mental illness. Group homes provide shared, safe, homelike environments where adults are assited with developing and maintaining skills of independent living (managing personal finances, daily living skills, social skills, medication adherence, compliance with medical, behavioral and legal orders, and coordinating services with the various providers on the team to support client success). Program Participants are assigned to a single or shared room (limit 2 beds per room). Houses are between 4 and 7 bedrooms and 5 to 8 beds. Program fees include room, electricity, water, internet, phone and basic cable and shared supplies like toilet paper, laundry detergent, hand soap, cleaning supplies. Homes are fully furnished and participants are expected to purchase their own food, medications, personal hygiene. Participants will work with program staff to establish personal goals, attend structured rehabilitation, education or work programs during the weekdays and perform common household chores.

The Back-to-School Brigade is an annual nationwide campaign by Operation Homefront that collects and distributes school supplies to eligible dependents of service members. Through this assistance program, military children receive free back-to-school supplies, including backpacks, to help them start the new school year on the right foot. Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Pre- and post-training surveys are used to measure changes in resilience knowledge, confidence, and skill application. The program is designed to complement, not replace, clinical services by providing accessible, preventive mental health education that strengthens individual and community wellbeing. The Trauma-Informed Mental Resilience Training Curriculum is a structured, evidence-based education program delivered through group sessions at partner sites across Oahu and Kauai and statewide via virtual platforms when appropriate. The curriculum focuses on building emotional regulation, stress management, healthy coping strategies, self-awareness, and interpersonal resilience using trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
