CancerCare provides limited financial assistance to people affected by cancer. As a nonprofit organization, funding depends on the sources of support we receive at any given time. If we do not currently have funding to assist you, our professional oncology social workers will always work to refer you to other financial assistance resources. (CCS) Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) is making it easier for impacted families to get monetary assistance for child care. They issued emergency rules that set aside many of the requirements usually in place. This means many more families will now be eligible for a special application period. Temporary changes include: -No income restrictions – subsidies are available to all families whose housing or employment have been affected by the fires, no matter the income -No activity requirements – parents will not have to meet work and other activity requirements, like being in school or training -No DHS co-payments -Extra time for missing documentation – families who do not have required eligibility documentation (e.g., proof of child citizenship and age, or state residency) have up to six months to provide paperwork -One-year eligibility – if a family is determined eligible, they will continue to receive that financial help for child care for a full year, no matter changes to income or work If your family was impacted by the fires and needs help paying for child care, please apply today. We know child care is necessary for you as you navigate the long road ahead toward recovery and rebuilding. (Ohana Energy Gift Program) The Hawaiian Electric Company Ohana Energy Gift Program allows customers of Hawaiian Electric to make payments toward a designated recipient's electric account. The recipient will receive an acknowledgement letter once the gift amount has been applied to his or her account. Gift givers will receive a confirmation letter once the designated recipient's account information has been verified and the gift amount has been applied. Ohana Energy Gifts are not tax deductible donations. The gifts may be anonymous, or the gift giver may choose to also send a special acknowledgement card with a personalized message. If a recipient is not designated, the energy gift will be given to individuals and families in need. Visit the website to download and print out the Ohana Energy Gift Form. The Kauai DHO serves the community with proficiencies in emergency preparedness, family health services, public health nursing, services for the developmentally delayed, environmental health services (vector control, clean air, clean water, and sanitation programs), vital statistics (births, marriages, and deaths), communicable disease control, and mental health services. Provides temporary assistance and information for residents of the Island of Kauai who have tested positive for COVID-19 and cannot safely self-quarantine or self-isolate at home. Hope lodge - free overnight housing for patients traveling to the mainland for treatment.

(Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. Provides services to immigrants with low-income to enable them to stabilize their immigration status in the country. The program assists applicants for US Citizenship, relative petition change of status and other family immigration petitions with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

(YWCA of Kauai Sexual Assault Treatment Program) Offers confidential crisis intervention counseling and support services for rape victims. Will accompany victims to hospital for examination, or to police for reporting, and to court if prosecution takes place. Provides speakers to schools and organizations, public education on sexual assault and harassment. Offers counseling and support services for children who have been sexually abused or molested by non-family members. Provides confidential group and individual counseling for adults molested as children.

Provides services to Realtor® members to assist them in the day-to-day running of their real estate business, including a Multiple Listing Service with computer access; coordinates member education, including Continuing Education required by the Real Estate Commission; has an arbitration and ethics complaint process available to Realtor® members and members of the public; offers Presidential Scholarships to graduating high school students. Re-use Hawaii provides a Workforce Development Program that expands equitable access to jobs through second chance and transitional employment. We intentionally employ individuals who have been excluded from the workforce due to previous justice involvement, recovery from substance abuse, housing instability, or other barriers to employment.

Issues permits for hiking, hunting, taking of plants from reserve areas. Sells seedlings for Christmas trees, reforestation and wind breaks. Manages public hunting areas, public hiking areas, forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, and natural area reserves. Accepts reports of forest pests, including new and unusual weeds and certain birds. Pest reports accepted include: wild pigs, snakes, large lizards, ferrets, the banana poka (a weed), the bulbul (a bird) on neighbor islands, and the mongoose on Kauai.

Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service. Voter registration forms also available.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.
