(Salt Lake Park, Salt Lake Gym) Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Operation Hero is an afterschool program that targets military children who have been identified by teachers, counselors, or parents as exhibiting low self-esteem, or who have difficulty adjusting, both academically and sociall t the school environment. Oftentimes, these difficulties can be attributed to frequent moves and family disruption due to deployments. The curriculum is designed to help children cope with the challenges of military life, provide tools to help them succeed in school, and assist them in developing a positive self-image while improving communication skills. This program promotes social responsibility through team-building activities and targets children.

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks.
