(Hawaii Copd Coalition) Hawaii Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (HiCOPD) Coalition was formed in 2007 to provide services and improve treatment of Hawaii adults diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and its related disorders. Program serves patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and others offering free lung health information, free paper and pen screening tests, tobacco cessation information, monthly support group meetings, presentations on COPD, advocacy, training for volunteers/healthcare workers about COPD and Smoking Cessation counseling, information sharing of licensure for Hawaii’s respiratory therapists which has successfully led to licensing. Operates photographic camera club with access to a black and white darkroom. Educates members in the various processes and complexities of photography. Schedules an annual members' exhibition, an annual members contest and periodic shooting opportunities. (Salvation Army - Lihue Emergency Food) Salvation Army Kauai provides a weekly food pantry on Friday 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Administers refuse collection, road maintenance, cesspool pumping. Maintains Kaunakakai Flood Control facility; Hoolehua Veteran's, Kapaakea and Ualapue cemeteries.

Provides employment and training services for adults and youths including job training, classroom training, career counseling, placement, and follow-up.

The Back-to-School Brigade is an annual nationwide campaign by Operation Homefront that collects and distributes school supplies to eligible dependents of service members. Through this assistance program, military children receive free back-to-school supplies, including backpacks, to help them start the new school year on the right foot. (St Elizabeths Episcopal Church, Saint Elizabeth's Episcopal Church) To serve the needy in our community with a daily food pantry.

Operates a toll-free line to register complaints concerning matters within FAA's jurisdiction, e.g. carry on baggage, child safety seats, or user services provided by FAA, including pilot examinations, aircraft certification and facility operations. To report complaints on safety violations, such as planes flying to low, call the Flights Standards District Office.

(YWCA of Kauai Sexual Assault Treatment Program) Offers confidential crisis intervention counseling and support services for rape victims. Will accompany victims to hospital for examination, or to police for reporting, and to court if prosecution takes place. Provides speakers to schools and organizations, public education on sexual assault and harassment. Offers counseling and support services for children who have been sexually abused or molested by non-family members. Provides confidential group and individual counseling for adults molested as children.

Promotes interest in good theater. Provides members with practical experience in the interpretation and production of quality plays. Presents a variety of entertainment/productions by youth and adults for the public and schools. Supports SILENT YOUTH (mime and dance groups).

(YWCA of Kauai Camp Sloggett) Operates camp for use by schools, churches, non-profit agencies, family groups and other organizations. Used for day-long or overnight workshops, seminars or training programs. Space available for tent camping. Situated in the lush forest of Kokee State Park is YWCA of Kauai Camp Sloggett. We offer a rustic and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of the 4,640 acre Kokee forest and the 1,800 acre Waimea Canyon State Park.

(North Shore Food Bank) North Shore Food Bank provides a walk in food distribution at Waialua Community Association (Haleiwa Gym). Additional community services include help with community health servies, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) application help, and other information for person who may be houseless. The Family Court hears legal matters involving children; domestic relations cases including divorce, child support, paternity, custody matters; domestic violence cases including civil restraining orders involving family members; civil commitment cases, guardianships of adults, and adult abuse cases.

-CDC program is a year-long program that includes dietary coaching and moderate physical activity. -consists of 16 core sessions over the course of the first six months, followed by less-intesive classes held monthly for the rest o the year-long program. -currculum classes are augmented with free cooking demos, demonstration of simple exercises, opportunities for activities like walking with Health Educator and Community Helth Worker, referrals to other resources in the community, relaxation techniques, and incentive gifts. -goals are to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes among those wo are at high risk for diabetes, cut one's risk of developing diabetes in half by losing 5-7% of their body weight through healthier eating and engaging in 150 minutes of physical activity each week.

Maintains a memorial to victims of the World War II attack on Pearl Harbor. Offers a program consisting of an introductory talk, documentary film on the Pearl Harbor attack and a shuttle boat ride to the Memorial. Volunteers needed to assist with administrative duties, data entry, clerical work and staffing of the information/donation desk.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households.
