Functional Family Therapy - East Hawaii Island

(FFT, Functional Family Therapy) This evidence-based program works with at-risk youth and their families. Prevention and intervention services are family focused and emphasize the development of family members’ inner strengths and allows for greater self-sufficiency. Services are provided at in-home and community-based locations. This is a 3-6 month family therapy treatment system provided in a home/office setting for youth ages 11 years old -18 years old experiencing a wide range of externalizing behavior disorders (e.g. conduct, violence, drug abuse) along with family problems (e.g. family conflict, communication) and often with additional emotional problems (e.g. anxiety and depression). At least one adult/parental figure must be willing to assume long-term parenting role and participate with service providers for the duration of treatment.

Applications for this program are only accepted during the month of June. The amount of the credit varies each year and is based on the total number of people living in the house. Applicants must have an active electric account and are required to submit a current electric bill. Applicants may apply, once per program year for one of the two types of credit: Energy Credit (EC) or Emergency Crisis Intervention (ECI).
