Community-based Pregnancy Services provides counseling and supportive services to women experiencing a crisis due to an unplanned pregnancy and their families, with special attention to pregnant teens. Service assists clients to explore all their viable options concerning their pregnancy and to make informed decisions and plans for themselves and their child. Pregnancy Services provides community outreach in order to reach the women and teens in need of services, and assists them in accessing services, advocacy, information and other resources to meet their needs (such as WIC, Medicaid, AFDC.) Birth options counseling is provided if requested as well as planning and assistance through the process for the individual, partner and family.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Domestic Abuse Shelters and Transitional Apartments - Oahu) Domestic Abuse Shelters provide a safe haven for those fleeing domestic violence. Program accepts abused partners and their children. A 24 hour hotline is available for referrals and resource information. The Domestic Abuse Shelters (DAS) offers up to 120 days of a safe haven, basic needs (food, clothing etc.), counseling and services for children. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plans, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. (Wendys Wonderful Kids - Adoption Services) Wendy’s Wonderful Kids offers proactive, child-focused recruitment of adoptive families for children who have been placed in long-term foster care. Sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation, this unique program provides intensive social work services to find the best adoptive home for a child by exploring all facets of the child’s family, school, and friendship circles, as well as recruiting families from the broader community. Goals: • Increase the number of foster children placed with loving, adoptive or guardianship families in Hawaii • Develop supportive and warm relationships with children waiting to be adopted/legal guardianship • Provide information and resources to prospective and adoptive/guardianship parents • Increase community awareness of foster care adoption • Streamline the adoption process • Improve the quality of life for children in the permanent care of the Hawaii • State Department of Human Services by providing a “forever” family in Hawaii

(Maui Second Circuit Self Help Center Hoapili Hale) The Maui Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Maui County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters. Access by telephone for Molokai, Lanai and Hana residents only when the center is open. The Center does not accept voice messages. Court Navigators for Lanaʻi, Maui, and Molokaʻi are now available by email In 2018, an in-person Volunteer Court Navigator Program was established in the Second Circuit (Maui County). Volunteer Court Navigators assisted unrepresented individuals at Hoapili Hale by answering questions concerning court resources, locations, and procedures. Note: Volunteer Court Navigators cannot provide legal advice or representation. The Volunteer Court Navigator Program has expanded to include services by email.
