Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) provides supportive services to meet the immediate and urgent needs of visitors to Hawaii Island who are victimized by crime, have medical emergencies, or suffer other adversities during their stay. Immediate needs may include assistance with canceling credit cards, providing emergency transportation, or garnering resources (soliciting donations) for food and lodging. Administers public service program for volunteers from community groups, churches, or businesses who agree to pick up litter on a section of highway their organization has adopted. Volunteers pick up litter on the specified section of highway at least four times a year. Provides high visibility vests, trash bags and safety information for volunteers. Removes filled bags and heavy hazardous items from roadsides. Erects signs on the highways to recognize volunteers' cleaning efforts.

Waikiki Health's HIV Early Intervention Services Program is committed to the early detection and treatment of HIV, which can help prevent the onset of AIDS and other opportunistic infections. Confidential HIV and Hepatitis C testing and counseling are available at the Waikiki Health’s Ohua Clinic in Waikiki and Makahiki Medical and Dental Clinic in McCully/Moiliili. Our prevention services team offers a wide variety of programs designed to reach individuals at risk for confronting HIV. (The Actors Group) The Actors' Group (TAG) is a small but active Community Theatre. Our seating capacity is 55 to 60 seats. We are located in the Dole Cannery Square Mall. We produce 6 to 7 plays each season (September through August) These are all straight plays, we do not do musicals because our theater is so small. Everyone at TAG is a volunteer. And we are always looking for volunteers to help in every aspect of the theater.

(TRY, TRY Center, Community Teen Program - KPT - Middle and High School) Parents And Children Together's Community Tenacious Rooted Youth (TRY) Centers in Kuhio Park Terrace and Puuwai Momi public housing provides comprehensive development programs for youth who live in and around the housing complexes. After school programs promote the development of youth, families, and communities by providing educational activities and experiences including STEM projects, sports and recreation, community service, skill building, and support services. Programs support the growth and development of our youth by teaching leadership and life skills and encouraging positive experiences as alternatives to drugs and gangs. TRY Center activities are free and open to family residents of public housing complexes in the respective areas. Opens at 1:30 pm on Wednesdays during the school year. Extended hours offered during summer and school intersessions. Intake form is good for 1 year.

Basic dental hygiene and other optional procedures are rendered based on clinical and professional judgment of students and faculty. Basic procedures include oral examination and charting, scaling and polishing of teeth, and patient education. Since this part of the dental hygiene curriculum is to provide teaching-learning experiences, the Department reserves the right to select patients and the type of procedures to be rendered; and to refuse individuals who do not meet the teaching criteria. It should be emphasized that full dental service is not available and service is limited to procedures in dental hygiene.

(Domestic Violence Services for Families) When child abuse occurs in the home, violent behavior towards spouses and others is also often present. After a family is required to enter the child welfare system and is discovered to be experiencing other forms of domestic violence a care plan is developed for each family member. Services are then provided for both survivors (victims) and batterers (perpetrators) of violent behavior. Survivors create a safety plan and are offered various supportive services. Batterers are assessed and provided opportunities to learn alternative attitudes and behaviors. This program works with families involved in the child welfare system who are also experiencing domestic violence. Staff work with each family to assess for domestic violence and/or risk factors related to domestic violence. A care plan is developed for each family member. The services that are available for each family include: Domestic Violence Survivor Support and Pattern Changing Groups for Victims, Individual Counseling and Support for each family member, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focusing on children, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Children’s Support Groups, and/or Adolescent Support Groups.
