Kula Botanical Garden

Exhibits an 8 acre garden in a local setting through a self-guided tour. Offers picnic area for visitors, an aviary, a carp pond, a stream, a bird sanctuary (including Nene Geese), Hawaiian Statues, a covered bridge, and a souvenir and light snack shop. Stroller friendly garden. It takes about 1 hour to go through so be here by 3pm to enjoy the garden.

(Hawaii VA Foundation) Community volunteers shops for and deliver groceries, medication and necessary supplies to the kupuna's home every 2 weeks. The kupuna pays for the groceries that the volunteer delivers. The volunteer does not enter the kupuna's home. Inquire about other islands in the service area.

Conducts surveillance and investigation of communicable diseases (other than tuberculosis, Hansen's Disease). Implements control measures necessary to decrease and prevent infectious disease. Provides information to the public about infectious diseases, travel information, immunization and general information on vaccination for childhood diseases. Also provides a patient referral letter for a free (STDs) chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis test.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

Program staff work with the family to stabilize and preserve their capacity to improve the youth’s functioning in the current living environment and to prevent the need for placement outside the home. Intensive In-Home Mental Health Treatment Services for children, youth, and families who require a higher level of care than office-based services, but who do not require residential or hospital level care.

Provides confidential crisis intervention, legal system advocacy/ support, counseling, and medical services for sexual assault victims. Victims choose whether to report to police. Staff will be present at police interview if desired. Prevention education to schools and community also available.
