Hawaii Alliance for Community-Based Economic Development (HACBED) plays the role of facilitator, catalyst, community builder and broker as asked by the communities we serve. We also act as a producer of training, technical assistance, advocacy, education, as well as research and development (R and D) related products and services. HACBED has developed a body of information, experience, and expertise to support the field of community-based economic development and asset building in Hawaii through its focus on Community and Organizational Capacity Building; Community Based Planning; and Family and Community Asset Building for Self-Sufficiency.

Hawaii District Health Offices (DHO) serves the community with proficiencies in emergency preparedness, family health services, public health nursing, services for the developmentally delayed, environmental health services which includes vector control, clean air, clean water, and sanitation programs, vital statistics (births, marriages, deaths), and mental health services. Provides temporary assistance and information for residents of the Island of Hawaii who have tested positive for COVID-19 and cannot safely self-quarantine or self-isolate at home. Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Adult Day Care program for elders and challenged adults needed supervised care, socialization, mental stimulation, physical activity. Also supporting caregivers to remain employed and or needing respite.

Provides comprehensive services to persons who are suffering from a serious mental illness or persons in acute mental health crisis. Includes psychiatric evaluation and treatment, counseling and psychotherapy, case management, outreach, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Straub Urologists diagnose and treat disorders of the urinary tract in adults and children. The department provides medical and surgical treatment for incontinence, prostate problems, disorders of voiding, kidney stones, infertility, impotence and genitourinary malignancies. Diagnoses and treats sexual problems with focus on promoting healthy sexual functioning. Treatment may include interview, exam by physician, lab tests, medical or surgical treatment and sex therapy.

(Moratorium) Offers advice and assistance regarding violations of fair housing laws. Conducts investigations of fair housing complaints through the use of testers. Assists in referral of complaints for persons alleging violations of fair housing laws. Provides answers to fair housing questions. Distributes informational brochures. (Adult Program, Adult Group Homes - Hale Kukunaokala) Hale Naau Pono provides group homes for persons with serious mental illness. Group homes provide shared, safe, homelike environments where adults are assited with developing and maintaining skills of independent living (managing personal finances, daily living skills, social skills, medication adherence, compliance with medical, behavioral and legal orders, and coordinating services with the various providers on the team to support client success). Program Participants are assigned to a single or shared room (limit 2 beds per room). Houses are between 4 and 7 bedrooms and 5 to 8 beds. Program fees include room, electricity, water, internet, phone and basic cable and shared supplies like toilet paper, laundry detergent, hand soap, cleaning supplies. Homes are fully furnished and participants are expected to purchase their own food, medications, personal hygiene. Participants will work with program staff to establish personal goals, attend structured rehabilitation, education or work programs during the weekdays and perform common household chores.

Provides primary health care including medical and psychiatric services for eligible veterans with stable, chronic health problems or minor acute illness. Provides social services, case management services, and information and referral to appropriate resources.
