McKinley Community School for Adults (MCSA) - Moanalua Campus provides adults with basic, remedial, and continuing education opportunities. Our programs include English Language Acquisition (ELA), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Workplace Literacy Adult Secondary Education (ASE), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, and DOE Support classes.

Offers one-on-one tutoring for adults who are fluent in English and want to improve their reading and writing skills. Computer-assisted learning and technology access. Produces plays and drama education programs which help youth gain an understanding of the arts through theatrical and drama experience. Educates service members veterans and their families to cope with mental health and addiction issues. Administered by veterans who themselves have been consumers of VA mental-health services. Vet 2 Vet provides a 6 week, peer-facilitator training program. Hawaii Vet 2 Vet Inc assists service members veterans and their families to get the services that they are entitled to from the Veterans Health and Benefits Administration (aka VHA and VBA).

Assists homeowners or renters who are delinquent in mortgage or rental payments. Attempts to work out loan repayment plan and provides advice on possible options available. Offers homebuyer education to current and prospective homeowners on obtaining, keeping and maintaining their homes. Offers services for Maui county.

Oversees and manages solid waste disposal facilities and services.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Collects and distributes child support funds in all new divorce and paternity cases, newly modified orders, as well as those cases handled in the past. Legally establishes the identity of the father of children born out of wedlock. Obtains court and administrative orders for child support which are enforceable against parents who have a duty to provide support. Locates parents who are not complying with existing child support orders and enforces payment through wage assignment, income tax refund intercept and other legal means. Ensures medical coverage for children.

LDAH provides mentoring, technical assistance and workshop training in special education to parents/families of children with disabilities or suspected disabilities. In some cases, we will provide advocacy support for parents when information about their child at the school level becomes more complicated.

Safeguards the rights of individuals in need of assistance in criminal, involuntary commitment and family cases by providing legal services.

Conducts all law enforcement. Receives all public service calls. Administers firearms registration. Handles abandoned vehicle reporting. Provides information regarding traffic services. Also provides information on the Neighborhood Watch Program.

Provides temporary part-time employment and on-the-job training opportunities for Hawaii Island seniors 55 years of age or older who meet all program eligibility requirements. Services include job counseling/development, information and referral, and job placement in community service-oriented host agencies, which provide senior enrollees with current work experience, references, and new skills. Designed to assist the senior enrollees to make the transition from federally subsidized jobs back into the main workforce.
