The Maui Red Cross provides disaster response to those affected by disasters in Maui County and shares critical preparedness information to the community so that people can prepare before a disaster strikes. All disaster response and disaster training are provided at no charge. Training classes such as first aid and CPR are available for a fee. The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. HomeAid's Kauhale Management Division provides secure, shared housing at Kipuola Kauahale, light case management, job readiness support, and opportunities for education and community engagement primarily for single individuals.  Additional support for mental health resources and counseling referrals, transportation assistance for work or school, and health and wellness programs for residents may be available. Residents have their own "sleeping pod" but share communal space (toilet, shower, kitchen, computer lab, public areas, etc.).  Residents are required to attend weekly or monthly community meetings, help with shared chores to maintain the common areas, follow site policies for safety, treat others with kindness and respect, and stay engaged with job training, education, or personal development activities.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Facilities include: Three fields with two softball backstops, recreation building, four basketball courts, two volleyball courts, community garden, and play apparatus. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Hawaii Agricultural Foundation provides teacher trainings. Teacher trainings for Veggie U are island specific trainings with 1-2 trainings per year. Veggie U is a hands-on science program that empowers students to become growers in their own classrooms. Using a classroom garden kit, students plant, care for, and harvest vegetables while learning about nutrition, sustainability, and healthy eating. The program deepens appreciation for local food, encourages healthier lifestyles, and connects youth to the importance of agriculture in everyday life. Quarterly virtual check-ins provide teachers with timely updates, opportunities to discuss topics of interest, and a space to collaborate and share classroom experiences with fellow educators.

Everyone under one roof can apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance. Typically, FEMA allows only one applicant per household or address to apply for Housing Assistance. If FEMA says you are ineligible for assistance because someone at your address has already applied, you can appeal. Tell us you need your own application. If you appeal, it won’t take help away from someone else. Ask FEMA for help when writing your appeal. Call or speak to FEMA as a Disaster Recovery Center. Send FEMA a signed letter explaining that your damaged home was your primary residence during the August 8, 2023 wildfires. Also explain that your application represents a separate household from the original applicant using the same address. Deadline to apply for the Maui wildfires has been extended to December 11, 2023. --Understanding your FEMA Letter-- Hawaii residents who registered for FEMA assistance for the wildfires that began sweeping across Maui August 8, 2023 will receive a determination letter from FEMA. In some cases, the letter may say you are ineligible for assistance. This is not a denial. It is important to read the letter carefully. It will include the amount of assistance FEMA may provide and information on how you can use your disaster assistance funds. The letter will also explain your application status and it will give you information about what to do to appeal FEMA’s decision. Your letter might also ask you to send additional information or supporting documentation for FEMA to continue reviewing your application. For example, you may be asked to send one or more of the following:

• Proof of insurance coverage
• Settlement of insurance claims or denial letter from insurance provider
• Proof of identity
• Proof of occupancy
• Proof of ownership
• Proof that the damaged property was the applicant’s primary residence at the time of the disaster.

If you are one of multiple families living in the same residence, each family within the household may be eligible for assistance. Your landlord will be required to provide a written statement or agreement that clearly says you had a lease agreement in place before the disaster. You can also provide old rent receipts, bank transactions or checks showing you paid rent to the landlord. These receipts must be dated within three months of the fires. In other words, they must be dated between May 8, 2023 and August 8, 2023. If you have questions about your FEMA determination letter, call the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362. Specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service such as Video Relay Service, captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service when you apply.

Our Brain Injury Program provides acute rehabilitation for patients who have sustained traumatic brain injury. We provide a comprehensive and individualized plan using an interdisciplinary team approach, working closely with patients and their families/caregivers to address specific needs and goals. Our patient-centered care model is focused on patients to maximize their potential. The REHAB staff also includes Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) who have the expertise and knowledge to work with special needs following a brain injury. We help patients schedule a follow-up appointment with their physicians in our Physicians Clinic so they can continue their rehabilitation therapy in our outpatient NeuroTrauma Recovery Program (NTRP). The NTRP is designed for patients recovering from a traumatic brain injury and provides comprehensive rehabilitation assessment and service for impairments in cognitive, psychosocial and physical abilities due to a traumatic brain injury. Caregivers and family members are provided with a three-hour Caregiver Education and Training (CET) prior to discharge, meeting with each member of the interdisciplinary care team to get hands-on training.

Waikiki Health’s Tobacco Treatment Program services include free counseling with a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, nicotine replacement therapies, personalized Quit Plans, and more.

Designed to eliminate disease and health risks to the Hawaiian community through programs specific to the general Hawaiian population. Emphasizes nutrition and diabetes. Promotes wellness and disease prevention. Provides referrals to physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Provides information in traditional Hawaiian healing practices such as Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian massage therapy). Also offers breast and cervical cancer screening. Also offers a tobacco cessation program.

(Hoomanea Oiwi - Youth Employment and Training Program) Provides employment and training services for adults including job training, career counseling and placement, GED attainment and tuition assistance at the Hale O Na Limahana office.

Kane Connections provides 1:1 and group support for men in the Maui community. While we encourage the participation of fathers or male caregivers (grandpa, uncle etc..) all men are invited to participate in the Kane Connections Program. Kane Connections offers the following services: 1:1 support via in person visits at our office, at your home, or in the community. Hui Kane our Monday night mens group held at Hale Makana. Kamalama, a 12 week parenting class for men and their partner/co-parent based on Hawaiian Values and rooted in the understanding that parents are their children's first teachers.

Operates a toll-free line to register complaints concerning matters within FAA's jurisdiction, e.g. carry on baggage, child safety seats, or user services provided by FAA, including pilot examinations, aircraft certification and facility operations. To report complaints on safety violations, such as planes flying to low, call the Flights Standards District Office.
