(Puuhonua Prison Program - Pre/Post-Release Assistance to Oahu Offenders, Pu'uhonua Prison Program - Pre/Post-Release Assistance to Oahu Offenders) Puuhonua Prison Program helps incarcerated men and women navigate through the challenges of re-entering society, which includes avoiding homelessness, becoming rehabilitated, securing employment, and avoiding recidivism. Program participants receive help obtaining MedQUEST health insurance, SNAP/financial assistance, Goodwill clothing vouchers, bus passes, and referrals to shelter/housing resources and prospective employers. Puuhonua staff meet with offenders on-site at Oahu’s correctional facilities and also provide support post-release. (Childrens Advocacy Center of West Hawaii) Provides a safe, neutral place for child abuse investigations by trained interviewers who are specialists in child abuse and neglect. In order to minimize the number of interviews, proceedings can be videotaped and/or audiotaped. Provides training for professionals in interviewing children in order to provide a neutral, professional investigation. Coordinates civil and criminal court actions. Coordinates the activities of all agencies involved with the child.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.

The Arc of Maui County has five Residential Group Homes for people with developmental disabilities. Each home has four to five residents with staff support 24 hours a day. Services include assistance with activities of daily living, recreational activities, and transportation. Socialization and community integration are part of everyday life at the homes. Nursing services and medication assistance are available. All of our homes are licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Health. Our homes are licensed as either Domiciliary or Intermediate Care and most are fully wheelchair accessible. The homes are located in Kahului, Kihei, Maunaloa, and Napili.
