(Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters offers home based early childhood education for two, three, four and five year old children working with their parent(s) as their first teacher. The parent is provided with a set of carefully developed materials, curriculum and books designed to strengthen their child’s cognitive skills, early literacy skills, social/emotional and physical development. HIPPY is a parent involvement and school readiness program. HIPPY covers the following 5 domains: Literacy; Language; Science ; Motor (gross and fine) ; Math . The curriculum is scripted to help parents deliver the lessons to their children with confidence. Provides support, comfort, and interdisciplinary care to the terminally ill and their loved ones, and education and grief support to the community at large. Hospice is a holistic philosophy of patient centered care. The hospice program of care focuses on the whole person-body, mind, and spirit. Hospice recognizes that a patient who is dealing with the end of life seeks and deserves comfort in every aspect of his/her life. Hospice care is provided through an Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) consisting of a physician, nurses, nure-aides, social workers, spiritual counselors, nutritional and other therapists and specially trained patient-care volunteers who offer support through the challenges of living with a terminal illness to the patient and family seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Offers multipurpose senior programs and congregate meals. Serves as a focal point for service delivery and presentations by other agencies.

(Cat Friends) Abandoned and Feral Cat Friends works to decrease the abandoned and feral cat population through the widely accepted trap/neuter/return/manage methodology. This humane approach returns cats to where they were trapped under human care and supervision, while ensuring they are not producing unwanted litters.

Sets minimum sentence for prisoners. Grants paroles and supervises persons paroled from prisons. Revokes paroles. Considers applications for pardons upon referral by the Governor. Makes referrals to other service delivery providers, i.e. treatment for people on parole.

Private school includes grades K-12 for boys and girls.

The School Readiness Project provides developmental, hearing, vision screening and case management for children ages two to five years old in the community, at preschools or at selected events. Workshop and training presentations are provided to parents and professionals on the importance of early childhood health and development to emphasize the importance of children being kindergarten ready.

(Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden) Cultivates and displays rare and unusual plants. Holds guided hikes, garden walks, special programs on Hawaiian plant use, and composting. Meeting rooms available for non-profit groups. Free Mulch given (while supplies last) at the following locations: Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden (Kaneohe), Hawaiian Earth Products (Kailua), Hawaiian Earth Products (Kapolei), Ala Wai Community Garden, Makiki Community Garden, Waimea Falls Park, Wahiawa Community Garden. Accepts volunteers who are able to work well with others and whose duties will include greeting visitors and giving tours.

(Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. (SMP Hawaii) The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP Hawaii) provides information on how to detect, prevent, and report Medicare fraud, abuse, and waste.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Arranges for linkages with vocational programs and job placement services for people with severe mental illness.
