(Childrens Advocacy Center of West Hawaii) Provides a safe, neutral place for child abuse investigations by trained interviewers who are specialists in child abuse and neglect. In order to minimize the number of interviews, proceedings can be videotaped and/or audiotaped. Provides training for professionals in interviewing children in order to provide a neutral, professional investigation. Coordinates civil and criminal court actions. Coordinates the activities of all agencies involved with the child.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.

Offers weekly hot supper at Kealakehe Intermediate School for anyone who needs a hot meal. Run by volunteers preparing and serving donated food and food purchased with donated funds. (Peoples Open Market Administration, POM) The administrative office of the People's Open Market (POM) helps persons interested in becoming vendors at the different People's Open Markets throughout Oahu. Visit the links on the website to see the vendor application, insurance, and permitting requirements. The People's Open Market is a low cost market where farmers sell fresh produce, baked goods, and fish directly to the public. Hale Kau Kau program serves dinner meals on-site to those who do not have the resources for basic food. Hale Kau Kau delivers dinner meals every day to homebound persons (seniors, people with disabilities, etc.)

The Lieutenant Governor's office helps with name changes and sells the Hawaii Revised Statutes and Session Laws. The office also does apostilles and certifications.

Diverts arrested offenders from incarceration in State jails. Screens adult law violators for supervisory release. Provides supervision upon Court order. Administers Court ordered community service.

Operates outpatient clinics for medical and mental health problems, including primary care clinics on Kauai, Maui and Hawaii. Provides inpatient psychiatry care at Tripler and referral to Tripler, community and state hospitals, or mainland VA hospitals if inpatient care is needed for other services. Administers a specialized program for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Provides health care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides health education in women and child health, chronic diseases, communicable diseases and prevention. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. McKinley Community School for Adults (MCSA) - Moanalua Campus provides adults with basic, remedial, and continuing education opportunities. Our programs include English Language Acquisition (ELA), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Workplace Literacy Adult Secondary Education (ASE), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, and DOE Support classes.

(PAS) Patient Assistance Services assists patients with completing applications for medical insurance and medication assistance with the State Med-QUEST program, Medicaid, Medicare, Sliding Scale Fee, Federal Health Insurance Marketplace, etc, assists patients in coordinating interpreting services, and provides homeless outreach and home visits to complete applications.

Operates a toll-free hotline which provides information about hearing loss and hearing aids. Does not give medical advice, recommend specific products, or provide financial assistance.

Provides child care and extended child care for preschool - teen (3-18 years old). Provides before and after school care for children. Offers land and aquatic exercise programs for adults, including Arthritis Aqua Exercise. Offers afterschool, summer and holiday child care programs for school aged children. Offers learn-to-swim programs for children through adults. Youth leadership program for teenagers.

Provides opportunities and manages facilities for non-organized, outdoor, aquatic recreational activities such as sportfishing, underwater photography and studying aquatic life. Operates and stocks freshwater public fishing areas on Hawaii, Kauai and Oahu. Shoreline Fishery Management monitors accidental introduction of foreign aquatic species. Develops and manages statewide system of artificial reefs to enhance sportfishing species.

Operation School Bell provides new school clothing to children in schools identified as Title 1 by the Hawaii State Department of Education and school personnel. In schools with school uniforms, a school shirt is paid for by the Assistance League of Hawaii.

The Department of Water Supply is a semi-autonomous agency of the County of Hawaii that is governed by the Water Board. They provide domestic water service through its 23 water systems throughout Hawaii island. Call to start or stop water service and billing questions.
