(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. The Medical Reserve Corps in Hawaii is an all volunteer group with many different skill sets. The Hawaii MRC needs volunteers who have medical and non-medical backgrounds who want to serve their local communities during public health emergencies or large scale emergency response events.

(Alanon Family Group Kauai, Alateen Kauai) Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of those who feel their lives have been deeply affected by someone else’s drinking. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Members, who come from all walks of life, meet to share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. (Kauai Firth Circuit Court Self Help Center) The Kauai Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the Garden Island community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Kauai County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

Provides short-term crisis counseling, explains procedures, and orients victims/witnesses to criminal justice system. Accompanies client to court. Provides information on cases. Promotes public awareness of victim/witness concerns. Assists victims with restitution, compensation and referral to community agencies if applicable.

Serves current and former foster youth in Hawai‘i who are transitioning out of the foster care system, into adulthood. The program provides a group process for youth to celebrate their emancipation from foster care and to assist them in planning for their independence. (Hawaii Baptist Academy Preschool at GracePoint) Hawaii Baptist Academy (HBA) at GracePoint allows the children to grow at their own individual rates of development. (Help Understanding and Group Support Respite Program) HUGS schedules respite services for enrolled HUGS member families who meet medical eligibility requirements. Volunteers are needed.
