The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. Friends of the Library of Hawai'i (FLH) exists to promote and support the fifty public libraries that make up the Hawai'i State Public Library System. FLH promotes literacy, education, and library services. The organization supports librarians in continuing education opportunities and offers scholarships for graduate students at the University of Hawaii interested in a library career. FLH fundraises throughout the year through a number of book sales as well as a golf tournament. Volunteers are needed for events and for year-round sorting and pricing of books and media. Eligible farmers may now apply for emergency loans of up to $150,000 at 3 percent interest. Loans of $100,000 or less will not require credit denials from other financial institutions. The [Hawai'i Board of Agriculture] also waived the three-year residency requirements normally required for agricultural loans, and authorized state loan officers to modify or waive collateral requirements, as deemed necessary, on a case-by-case basis. Loan applications for emergency loans relating to COVID-19 will be accepted until Dec. 31, 2020. Besides emergency loans, HDOA also offers micro-loans for those needing loans of $25,000 or less. Micro-loans involve less paperwork and swifter processing. In addition, current agricultural loan holders who are suffering financially due to COVID-19 may also request payment relief or forbearance.

Homeowner Assistance Loans are available to help Native Hawaiian first-time homebuyers purchase land, pay for septic systems, homesites, construction, or down payment and closing costs.

(MHAF) Program provides up to $60,000 of mortgage assistance and other related mortgage expenses to eligible homeowners.

(Beretania Park) Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. (Food Pantry) Parents And Children Together (PACT) provides a food pantry with essential staples for individuals and families at the Family Center in Kuhio Park Terrace. Intake is valid for one year.

Transitional Apartment Program (TAP) provides housing for victims who need safety and support and are ready to go to school/work. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plan, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs and up to 24 months at the Transitional Apartments.

Provides protective services to abused, neglected, or financially exploited dependent adults, 18 years and older. Takes action, with client consent, to prevent further abuse from occurring. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.
