Three meals per day are prepared at our Sumner Men’s Shelter and served across our 10-shelter network. Help prepare and serve meals at the men’s shelter. This volunteer position is great for individuals or groups, as each shift accommodates up to 5 volunteers. Shifts are available 3 meals per day, 7 days per week.

These items are received by the local offices by donations from others and through our TLC Catalog. Support Groups: The office is a clearinghouse of information on local self-help and support groups that provide emotional and educational help. Relay For Life: You are invited to attend Relay For Life, our annual event to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones, and give everyone the opportunity to fight back against cancer. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. The Salvation Army Lihue Corps provides a place and opportunity for religious expression by those who choose the Salvation Army. Provides character building programs for all ages. Assistance is provided to those who are in need of food and clothing. Provides hospital visits, care home visit, and shut-in visitation to the institutionalized. Mobile showers are available every Tuesday from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm. Back to school supplies program is available mid-July. Holiday programs available as well. The Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) has received federal approval for a temporary waiver allowing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households to purchase hot foods using their benefits at authorized retailers statewide, from April 17 through May 16, 2026. The waiver, approved April 17 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), provides critical flexibility for households impacted by the March 2026 Kona Low weather events, which caused widespread flooding, power outages and damage to homes across the state. Under normal circumstances, SNAP benefits cannot be used to purchase hot or prepared foods. This temporary waiver allows eligible households to buy hot meals, helping those who may be unable to cook or safely store food due to ongoing impacts from the disaster. FNS approved the waiver statewide in recognition of the severity and widespread effects of the Kona Low weather systems, which resulted in displacement and ongoing challenges for affected households. “Authorized SNAP retailers across Hawaiʻi have been notified of the waiver and may begin accepting SNAP benefits for eligible hot food purchases during the approved period,” said DHS Deputy Director Joseph Campos. “Retailers will require 24 to 48 hours from April 17 to make necessary updates to their point-of-sale systems to support hot food purchases.” The waiver is authorized under Section 412 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and Section 5(h)(1) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008. DHS may request an extension of the waiver if conditions warrant additional relief. Trust Administration - Estate Settlement, Conservatorship and Agent for Trustee

(Hale Ho'omalu, Neighborhood Places of Kauai) In partnership with a community Ohana Board and other community agencies, provides family support and family preservation services to the families in defined areas of Kauai. Incorporating a community family center model, Hale Ho'omalu Neighborhood Place provides a healing and nurturing environment in which intervention services are interwoven with prevention activities. Services include information and referral, emergency food pantry, emergency clothes closet, parent skills classes, outreach activities to engage hard to reach families, individual and family counseling, and community activities, volunteer training, SNAP (Food Stamp) application assistance, and cultural awareness activities and more. Hale Ho'omalu is a family support center provided by Child and Family Service, serving Central to East Kauai.

(Hawaii Homeownership Center - Honolulu Office) The Hawaii HomeOwnership Center's (HHOC) lifetime membership prepares buyers for the home purchase through classes and individual coaching. Classes address the general concepts about preparing for homeownership and the buying process; individual coaching provides support to identify buyer resources and create an action plan to become mortgage ready. Support after our members become homeowners is available through workshops and confidential meetings.
