The Drivers Program provides a comprehensive evaluation to assess the ability to continue driving or return to driving. The evaluation process is meant to maintain safety for our clients and the community. For those who have sustained a new injury, illness or diagnosis, the Drivers Program assesses abilities to reintegrate into the community by maintaining or regaining driving independence. Additional components of the program include a behind-the-wheel assessment, adaptive equipment consultation and optional additional training sessions. We determine the readiness to drive with an on-site clinical evaluation that includes a comprehensive interview, as well as cognitive, vision and physical assessments with Driver Rehabilitation Specialists. A Behind-the-Wheel assessment is to be completed at the recommendation of the Driver Rehabilitation Specialist.

UCPA's Early Intervention Services is sponsored by the State of Hawaii's Department of Health - Early Intervention Section. Focusing on each person’s individual needs, Adult Day Health programs located in Honolulu and Wahiawa offer in-house classes, community outings and recreational opportunities that can help participants build the confidence and skills needed to integrate into the community as well as engage in volunteer and pre-vocational activities. The Employment Exploration component enables participants to identify interests and explore potential integrated employment settings.

The purpose of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is to enable eligible families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Kauai County Housing Agency's (KCHA) FSS program is the conduit between the client and the appropriate supportive services necessary to achieve independence. FSS case managers are assigned to FSS participants to make a proper assessment of strengths, needs and aspirations. The case manger will guide each client through a service plan which outlines short and long-term goals. Some of the services provided to families include: child care, transportation necessary to receive services, remedial education, job training and preparation, substance abuse treatment and counseling, training in homemaking and parenting skills, training in money management, training in household management; and any other services and resources appropriate to assist eligible families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. (PSI Helpline) Provides a helpline for support and local referrals for postpartum mental health, along with online information and support groups to help families, providers, and communities learn about the emotional and mental health of childbearing families. Website helps locate specialized support coordinators. The helpline connects callers to crisis hotlines, support groups, and events in that area. Helpline runs 24/7, but is staffed only during business hours. Callers may leave confidential messages anytime and staff will return them as soon as possible.
