Provides protective services to abused, neglected, or financially exploited dependent adults, 18 years and older. Takes action, with client consent, to prevent further abuse from occurring. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.

(H2H, Hele2Work, Hele to Work) The staff of the Hele2Work Employment Program at the Institute for Human Services (IHS) provide job readiness and post employment follow up services, as well as job search assistance along with referrals to job training classes and vocational training programs when available for those who qualify to participate in them. All Hele2Work services are free to those in need who are homeless, or who are at-risk of becoming homeless if employment is not secured quickly.

(Tutus Closet) Tutu's closet is a free mini thrift shop held only on 7/18/15 (Saturday) that provides household items, clothes, children's clothing for school, shoes. (Wendys Wonderful Kids - Adoption Services) Wendy’s Wonderful Kids offers proactive, child-focused recruitment of adoptive families for children who have been placed in long-term foster care. Sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation, this unique program provides intensive social work services to find the best adoptive home for a child by exploring all facets of the child’s family, school, and friendship circles, as well as recruiting families from the broader community. Goals: • Increase the number of foster children placed with loving, adoptive or guardianship families in Hawaii • Develop supportive and warm relationships with children waiting to be adopted/legal guardianship • Provide information and resources to prospective and adoptive/guardianship parents • Increase community awareness of foster care adoption • Streamline the adoption process • Improve the quality of life for children in the permanent care of the Hawaii • State Department of Human Services by providing a “forever” family in Hawaii

Works to ensure that schools, vocational rehabilitation agencies, and health insurers provide assessments, funding and training in the use of AT devices and services for their clients. Administers a low-interest financial loan program to assist individuals in purchasing assistive technology when no other sources of funding are available. Assistive technology is any item or equipment that has been specifically designed or modified to enable people to maintain or improve their functioning while ensuring their quality of life. Launched in January 2020, the Service Excellence Certificate of Achievement curriculum provides fundamental skills for employment in the hospitality industry and beyond. The training marries our unique philosophy for world class service rooted in the Hawaiian culture with world renowned hospitality education from Cornell University. The curriculum was exclusively developed in partnership with the School of Hotel Administration at the Cornell SJ Johnson College of Business, one of the leading hospitality administration programs in the world, for the DOE’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Upon completion of the program’s 9 lessons, students receive a Service Excellence Certificate of Achievement from Cornell University and ClimbHI. The program served 683 students and teachers in its first year, and is currently available for DOE CTE students. To receive the ClimbHI Service Excellence Certificate, the following online modules must be completed (each lesson will take up to 45 min to complete): Aloha Spirit Lesson/Quiz eCornell 8 modules Upon completion, both the ClimbHI and Cornell University certificates will be made available to students electronically.

(SHEG) A one time, not ongoing financial assistance for households who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness. Single, couples and families. Provides assistance with rent deposit, first month rent, past due rent, utilities when included with rent or if utility assistance prevents homelessness. Utility assistance for renters only. Utilities assistance to prevent the household from losing their housing or prevent homelessness.
