Hawaii Alliance for Community-Based Economic Development (HACBED) plays the role of facilitator, catalyst, community builder and broker as asked by the communities we serve. We also act as a producer of training, technical assistance, advocacy, education, as well as research and development (R and D) related products and services. HACBED has developed a body of information, experience, and expertise to support the field of community-based economic development and asset building in Hawaii through its focus on Community and Organizational Capacity Building; Community Based Planning; and Family and Community Asset Building for Self-Sufficiency.

The Kukulu Switchboard is a place for people and non-profit organizations to put up things they are asking for help with, or services or products they can provide.

Covers a 200-acre site located on the eastern end of the island of Oahu, inland of Sandy Beach, and is one of five botanical gardens in the Honolulu Botanical Gardens' system. The crater floor is covered with a thick growth of dryland plants.

(PGC Farms in Kunia, Pacific Gateway Center Farms in Kunia) Pacific Gateway Center provides 176 acres of farmland which are leased to farmers. The farmers work with the Social Enterprises Program to build their businesses selling produce such as cucumbers, varieties of tomatoes, squash, and beans, eggplant, okra, Thai chili peppers, avocado, and bananas.

Provides vocational rehabilitation services. Conducts work evaluation, training, job placement, transportation, pre-vocational program. Offers a life skills program. Provides employment in laundry, yard maintenance, car wash, thrift shop, janitorial, sprayhead fabrication, plant production and crafts.

Hawaii Agricultural Foundation provides teacher trainings. Teacher trainings for Tower Power are now active in 24 schools statewide. The program is now expanding to Hawaii Island. Tower Power gives students a hands-on, ag-tech and vertical farming lab-based experience using indoor aeroponic towers to grow and care for plants from seed to harvest in grade 6-8 classrooms. Through four dynamic learning units, students explore plant science, sustainability, and the future of farming while discovering how vertical growing systems can transform food production. The program includes a comprehensive teacher resource manual, ready-to-use classroom materials, and monthly virtual check-ins that cover timely topics, address teacher interests, and foster collaboration and idea-sharing among educators.

(Grow a Rainbow Program, Stop Youth Suicide and Bullying Program) At Mental Health America of Hawai‘i (MHA Hawai‘i), we serve our community by advocating and educating to promote mental wellness. We offer a Help Line. Weekdays, 9am - 4:30pm, we help callers – people with mental health challenges, family members, providers, members of the general public – find the assistance they need. Girl Scouts' leadership development program builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Through leadership programs in STEM, Outdoor Experience and Financial literacy and Entrepreneurship girls learn to discover, connect and take action to fulfill their potential as leaders and to improve their communities.

(Adult Program, Adult Group Homes - Hale Kukunaokala) Hale Naau Pono provides group homes for persons with serious mental illness. Group homes provide shared, safe, homelike environments where adults are assited with developing and maintaining skills of independent living (managing personal finances, daily living skills, social skills, medication adherence, compliance with medical, behavioral and legal orders, and coordinating services with the various providers on the team to support client success). Program Participants are assigned to a single or shared room (limit 2 beds per room). Houses are between 4 and 7 bedrooms and 5 to 8 beds. Program fees include room, electricity, water, internet, phone and basic cable and shared supplies like toilet paper, laundry detergent, hand soap, cleaning supplies. Homes are fully furnished and participants are expected to purchase their own food, medications, personal hygiene. Participants will work with program staff to establish personal goals, attend structured rehabilitation, education or work programs during the weekdays and perform common household chores.

(Drivers Licensing - Kona) Administers written and road tests for driver's license for automobiles, buses, mopeds, motorcycles, motorscooters, and trucks over 11,000 GVWR. Issues commercial driver's licenses and permits. Obtain State ID cards. Receives international and local driver's license inquiries. Receives Financial Responsibility SR-22 insurance forms for license suspensions by the court or through Administrative Revocation. Issues Hawaii State Identification Cards.

Provides transportation assistance for patients with cancer. Road to Recovery program - volunteers drive patients to doctor appointments and medical treatments. Bus Passes and Handi-Van Coupons - availability is limited to those in active treatment. Taxicab - limited trips for those that are unable to access volunteers, bus or handi-van. Air Fare interisland and mainland - for patients not covered by other insurance coverage. Reduced rate lodging - at hotels in Hawaii for patients who must travel for treatment. Hope lodge - free overnight housing for patients traveling to the mainland for treatment.

Gives conservation services for art and historic objects: care, preservation, and collection management.

Pacific Health Ministry develops hospital ministry and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs in Hawaii. Its mission is to provide the highest quality interfaith spiritual care to the people of Hawaii, pastoral training to students around the world, and education for the community. Pacific Health Ministry provides spiritual and emotional support programs for the patients, families, and staff for Hawaii hospitals, hospice programs, psychiatric hospitals, retirement centers, and long term care facilities. These services provide spiritual care to persons in trauma or crisis, as well as those dying or grieving the loss of a family member. Pacific Health Ministry also provides education for clergy, health care professionals, and others who assist persons who are dying, grieving, and in crisis. It is a program that leads to certification for ministers and religious professionals. Pacific Health Ministry is the only accredited ministry training institution in Hawaii.

Operates special programs including agriculture education and training, employment services, family development and case management, Head Start, and senior community service employment.

Administers state programs for soil conservation, water resource planning and development, geothermal resource management, mineral resource assessment, dam safety, flood prevention and control.

Operates an artists' guild offering textile, fused glass, ceramic, wood and photographic art. Maintains a darkroom and kiln. Operates gallery and gift-shops with artists offering such exhibits as wearable art, silk screen and Hawaiian painted silk.

(BEST, MEO BEST) Serves presently and formerly incarcerated men and women to make a successful transition from prison back to the Maui community. The primary goal is to provide supportive services so that individuals do not return to incarceration. Employment assistance, job training assistance, housing placement assistance, mentor matching, cultural activities, and family reunification services are provided.
