Our 8 week mentoring program surrounds adjudicated and at risk youths with positive adult and peer role models and uses a unique combination of Hawaiian culture, environmental awareness, surfing, eco-therapy, socialization, mentoring and educational activities to help teens develop new skills, enhance self-esteem, embrace new modes of thinking and break their cycle of errant behavior. We have seen many of our youths go on to college, pursue a career in the trade industry and maintain a clean life. Mentoring program is on the beach of Waikiki.

The AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program offers individuals the opportunity to become engaged in a community through an existing AmeriCorps VISTA project for 8, 9, or 10 weeks during the summer.

Hawaii Emergency Food Assistance Program
(HEFAP, Hawaii Emergency Food Benefit, HEFB) The Hawaii Emergency Food Assistance Program (HEFAP) is a new state-sponsored food benefit that is separate from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit. HEFAP will provide a benefit of $250 per person in a household. The HEFAP will be restricted to purchase food and groceries at retail locations that accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.

Starting November 10, 2025, SNAP recipients seeking information about the Hawaii Emergency Food Assistance Program (HEFAP) can contact the Public Assistance Information Line Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:15 pm. Callers can check the status of their HEFAP benefits using the Virtual Agent or speak directly with a live agent for further assistance by calling the statewide number (855) 643-1643, then saying "Emergency” or pressing 7. You may also continue to check for further updates on the DHS website at https://humanservices.hawaii.gov.
