(Domestic Violence Advocacy) Families who are enrolled in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Temporary Assistance to Other Needy Families (more commonly known as “welfare”), are required to be engaged in activities that will ultimately lead them to self-sufficiency. Program recipients for whom issues of safety and domestic violence are interfering with their progress can call upon Domestic Violence Advocacy to help them find support to change their situations. Services include: assessment, service planning, counseling services, case management and linkage and referral. Provides client advocacy for women referred by Department of Human Services (DHS) in need of case management and support to leave domestic violent relationships. Six month time period given to provide victims the opportunity to gain focus and perspective of their personal goals and career choice.

NIH Osteoporosis and Related Bone Diseases National Resource Center is a service provided by the National Institutes of Health. Provides written material on osteoporosis to patients, health professionals and the public in English, Spanish and selected Asian languages (Vietnamese, Chinese & Korean). Also carries materials on other metabolic bone diseases such as Paget's Disease and Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Does not provide counseling over the phone.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) provides a Rebuild Donation Match Registry. Step 1: Submit a Request. Residents and business owners with storm damage can submit a description of their needs, including required repairs and specific materials or services. Step 2: Eligibility Review. DPP will verify requests based on official damage assessment reports to ensure resources reach those most affected. Step 3: Register as a Donor. Individuals and businesses can sign up to donate specific quantities of materials or offer volunteer time. Step 4: The Match. Once a match is identified, DPP will notify both parties to initiate the connection. Please note: -No Guarantee of Assistance. Submission of a request does not guarantee that materials or services will be provided. Assistance depends on available donations. -Permits are Required. Participation in the registry does not waive standard building permit requirements. Property owners must ensure all necessary permits are obtained before work begins. -Licensed Work required. Under Hawaii law, work requiring a licensed contractor must still be performed by a properly licensed professional. -Independent Agreements made. Provides support services through referrals which include special testing, career and academic counseling, notetaking, taped texts, sign language interpreters, etc. Other accommodations include special desks, lockers, equipment, and use of TTY's, on-campus handicapped parking, special elevator access/keys to classes, and mobility aides. Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. RICO receives complaints from a wide variety of sources, including consumers, boards, other law enforcement agencies, other state boards, businesses, competitors, and licensees.

(Food Pantry) The Honolulu Fil-Am Seventh Day Adventist Church provides a food pantry for persons who have low-income or have no income. For food pantry help outside of the normal pantry hours please call for an appointment.

Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is incorporating a new evacuation notification platform, powered by Genasys, Inc, to enhance emergency operations for residents and visitors. The platform, known as Genasys Protect, will allow users to view evacuation zones, track live statuses, and receive real-time notifications through a mobile app. The Genasys system includes a zone map where users can see pre-determined evacuation zones, as well as live status updates during emergencies. The mobile app, available for both Apple and Android devices, will enable the public to follow their important zones and receive notifications specific to their zone.

Operates voluntary reassurance and notification service, whereby the letter carrier will be alerted to an accumulation of mail which might indicate a person's inability to pick up mail because of a sudden illness or accident. Places a decal inside the registrant's mailbox as a signal to the letter carrier that occupant is participating in this program. Reports an accumulation of mail directly to Elderly Affairs Division/Senior I&A Program for follow-up.

(EFNEP) Assists families with limited income to plan low-cost, simple, healthy meals. Families learn to shop wisely, stretch their food dollars and resources, and keep foods safe. Homemakers meet in groups with the Nutrition Program Assistant community sites. Meets weekly or bi-weekly (twice a month). Groups arranged by collaborating agencies.

(ECS) The Nā Lima Hana Employment Core Services program provides employment preparation training, personalized case management services, tuition assistance for vocational training, and job placement for unemployed and underemployed individuals. Launched in January 2020, the Service Excellence Certificate of Achievement curriculum provides fundamental skills for employment in the hospitality industry and beyond. The training marries our unique philosophy for world class service rooted in the Hawaiian culture with world renowned hospitality education from Cornell University. The curriculum was exclusively developed in partnership with the School of Hotel Administration at the Cornell SJ Johnson College of Business, one of the leading hospitality administration programs in the world, for the DOE’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Upon completion of the program’s 9 lessons, students receive a Service Excellence Certificate of Achievement from Cornell University and ClimbHI. The program served 683 students and teachers in its first year, and is currently available for DOE CTE students. To receive the ClimbHI Service Excellence Certificate, the following online modules must be completed (each lesson will take up to 45 min to complete): Aloha Spirit Lesson/Quiz eCornell 8 modules Upon completion, both the ClimbHI and Cornell University certificates will be made available to students electronically.

Parents And Children Together provides support through home visits and works in partnership with families. Our parenting curriculum promotes safe and nurturing parenting and access to resources about healthy child development. Our program serves families with children ages birth through 5 years old and families who have struggled to keep their children from harm or need additional parenting support.
