Provides comprehensive services to persons in acute mental health crisis or who are suffering from a serious mental illness. Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment, counseling and psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Hawaii Island Community Health Center (HICHC) provides integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health care for the whole ohana. Services include, but are not limited to: primary care, preventative care, women's health, pediatric care, dental, same day visits, mental health care, confidential teen visits, substance use treatment, WIC services, community outreach, and school based health care. Our Brain Injury Program provides acute rehabilitation for patients who have sustained traumatic brain injury. We provide a comprehensive and individualized plan using an interdisciplinary team approach, working closely with patients and their families/caregivers to address specific needs and goals. Our patient-centered care model is focused on patients to maximize their potential. The REHAB staff also includes Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) who have the expertise and knowledge to work with special needs following a brain injury. We help patients schedule a follow-up appointment with their physicians in our Physicians Clinic so they can continue their rehabilitation therapy in our outpatient NeuroTrauma Recovery Program (NTRP). The NTRP is designed for patients recovering from a traumatic brain injury and provides comprehensive rehabilitation assessment and service for impairments in cognitive, psychosocial and physical abilities due to a traumatic brain injury. Caregivers and family members are provided with a three-hour Caregiver Education and Training (CET) prior to discharge, meeting with each member of the interdisciplinary care team to get hands-on training.

A certified Patient Navigator provides personal hands-on support and direction to patients going through cancer treatment. The Patient Navigator can provide direction and referrals to resources, help patient's find financial assistance, help patient's formulate their thoughts for doctor's appointments, and help patient's coordinate their care between the many separate clinics/physicians/labs/imaging facilities located in Maui County and beyond. The program focuses on youth who are in crisis, have no basic necessities or no support systems and are approaching adulthood. We address areas of social well-being, knowledge, reasoning and creativity, vocational preparation, and social responsibility. Program activities address the following areas: youth leadership; educational development; community service and service learning; mentoring and intergenerational support; performing/visual arts and humanities; sports, fitness and health; self awareness and interpersonal dynamics; as well as basic money management/budgeting and job readiness.
